The first time i got my dreads it was all jacked up, so now im starting over here is a picture of my hair right now. i am planning on sectioning back combing then just letting it go from there. one of the problems i had with the last set was that my roots never locked up is there anything i can do to prevent this?

by all natural do you mean just stop combing my hair? i guess i could try that too, do you wash it like normal still when going all natural? I kinda think my hair will take ages to lock, without a little encouragement

if you want it to be "presentable" yet product free within a year maybe twist and rip or backcomb. i can't believe i said that...

haha i wont tell anyone what you said vigilanteherbalist2! but thank you for the advice. I am going to try a combination of the two and see what works best perhaps some back combing to get the roots started, then twist and rip once i've got a bit of it going.

I started mine by backcombing (with no wax) some and T&R with others and they both seem to be progressing at the same pace, some have really good roots and others have really loose roots. My mate puts a small amount of latex glue into his roots every few months but i'd say don't do that for obvious reasons.
