well ive been wanting to dread my hair for a long long time. idk. maybe four years. i even got my hair braided three summers ago because i was told that will make my hair lock. and it mightve but with my constant skateboparding in the hot sun i took the braids out because my scalp was burnt off. so today me and my friend mindogas decided to backcomb. we did like seven sections then he hadded to leave so this is the progress so far.
there prolly going to fall out, if they do just let them do their own thing trick is to ignore them once you start them. good luck
yes. im just hoping to back comb my whole head before i worry about them falling apart. i have a question also... when they fall out. do u just let your hair dread naturally or does this speed up the process
it does if you have long hair, i'm not sure that with hair as short as yours it would make a difference. dreads happen when hairs rub together and create friction and lock... with short hair this is way more difficult. you can get a fresh start with hair as short as yours... just wash with dr. bronners or baking soda and don't ever brush your hair again ever
ok=\ im extremely impatient when it comes to these things. should i finish backcombing my head or just leave it.
wait like 6 more months if your gonna backcomb your hairs too short for it to hold together after the first wash, if you want though backcomb it and then let it go from there maybe itll produce nicer sections not sure though
Might as well finish the job for aesthetic reasons. If you're really impatient are dreads for you? I'm not being rude, it's just they're going to look rubbish for months, maybe up to and beyond a year.
very true hellodreadhead. its kinda like i know once i actually back comb it i just have to wait but i just wanna start the progress now ya know. i have no problem waiting for it to look nice and actually lock up. i kinda just wanted to backcomb it as an impulse
thx natphil. my mom and my step dad are back and forth from jamaica all the time this will be the third time in six weeks and they bring me back a tam each time
lol =) Ok, we'll see you in six months. A little bit more length will hold the backcombing in much better.
They'll look good on you. No way is that back combing gonna stay in, though. You might wanna wait until your hair grows a bit longer.
What are they drug dealers? JK no really what do they do, I would love to leave the country that many times in six weeks. Not so sure about Jamaica though.
if you want to start progress now you can do two things. do the natural method and stop combing. or if u want sections, braid your hair and wash your braids like once a week. after about 6months in braids the roots should be locked. then u can tak eout the braids and youll have some locked hairs. this is what i did. gl brotha
