I know most people have some kind of thing they wish they could do. Something that, if they could escape the rat race, they would gladly do for the rest of their lives. I don't have anything like that. Do you guys think I'll find this "thing" eventually or should I just accept the fact that I'll be working a boring meaningless job until I retire and die?

A lot of people don't have this "thing." I don't. I don't know anyone who really knows exactly what they want. But you can be happy without knowing exactly what "thing" it is you want to lead your future. Try lots of things. Even if you don't find the 'one' you will be a better all around person after trying and learning new things.

Does it have to be only one thing?

Unless you get out there and find this 'thing', then you may be doomed to monotony, yeah.

Never too late to dream, or achieve something different. You'll be surprised how easy you life can be altered in a matter of years, you may be doing something you couldn't even comprehend right now in ten years time!

ya try a bunch of different things and just find what makes you feel the most content. content not necessarily meaning exploding with joy or anythin, just what you are the comfortable passing the time with that actually is work haha.
in community colleges there's usually a guidance class for career exploration, that might help cuz i'd find it hard to just explore career ambitions mainly cuz i wouldn't know what to do really if i were to "try things".
but even if you took that guidance class thing, the discovery has to come from yourself. If you're havin a hard time finding what you like, start by finding all the things you don't like.

This is kind of unrelated but...

I'm trying to find my favorite type of artistic expression. I love art, music etc but as of now I don't have a specific form of creativity. I have tried photography, ceramics but neither really tickle my fancy. I hope to take a drawing class soon. Maybe then I can start letting my creative energy flow!

I hope you find your "thing" Mr. dude im on coke

    nice name by the way.

People who think they know what their dream is when they're 19 generally end up disappointed.
