Hey guys! Anyone going this year? I think we may finally make it out, and are looking at picking up tickets today. Last few years we've done Rothbury, and its been incredible... but as its canceled, we just need our fix for the year. Anyhow, this may be a dumb question, but, how "herb friendly" is Roo? I heard some strange stories about cops having camaras everywhere... people getting busted for smoking etc.... Is that true? I don't think I would make the trip out from Toronto if it was like that... just wouldn't be the same vibe... Are they laxed at roo, will it be like Rothbury? are other things hard to find too, or will they be everywhere as well? Thanks guys.. Soc
Im definantly trying to go this year with a group of friends. you always see those people with large groups getting wasted together and belting out oasis tunes I have never been but my best friend has twice. He always tells me that roo is one of the most relaxed festivals with that type of stuff. But the line up is pretty cool this year. plus for some reason i feel like they care more about glass bottles then someone taking a hit from a bowl
I went in '06 and it was real chill. People and vendors were selling cannabis, alcohol, and other stuff including mushrooms. They search your car when you enter the farm, and they (bonnaroo personnel) also search you when you go into the main stage area. I am not sure how hard it is to get stuff in, but usually from what I remember they just check in your bags or purses if you have any.
Cool, yea, thanks.. that is what we were figuring... Sounds a lot like Rothbury, but, just wanted to be sure. Also, if you guys are into going - Veroness - anyone.. we should put together a thread.. Bonnaroo meetup, - It would be cool to meet some of you guys, and have a session Peace Soc
Screw the Roo! Wakarusa is going to be the shit this year. Telluride blue grass will blow the hell out of the Tennessee heat hole. Smaller fest, yarmony in the colorado mountains high sierra music festival The list goes on.
Hey guys, Yea, normally I would have agreed... But, here is what changed our minds... 1. Rothbury was cancled (grrrrr), and we were stumped on what to do as a replacement... My wife and I have always enjoyed the smaller names at Roth vs. the headliners... ok, the Dead, Sci, etc were incredible - but we just fell for the smaller shows... esp the dj's.. This year at Roo we have: Theiver corporation (that pretty much sold us), Bassnectar, Deadmau5, etc. I'm just hoping they add some jambands to the lineup.. Last year it was Phish 2 shows... not sure whats coming this year, but it better be more than Dave Mathews... 2. I have never done roo, and for some reason, always wanted to go, "just because"... Its almost like a place all festival goes must do once in thier lives - like a rite of passage. I'm sure the vibs will be incredible - the people - and we'll find more than enough to keep us happy... Anyhow, ya never know, if all goes well, we may do one of the others - as well... Were also thinking we may move to BC this summer.. so we may do Shambalah again too... Peace Soc
at larger festivals, you're pretty much going to find both worlds: the laid-back, do-what-you-want, herb everywhere, open smoking vibe and the watch your back, look out for undercovers vibe. Just keep common sense in your head and you'll be fine. as far as your questions regarding if weed and other things will be available, the answer is: probably. at huge festivals, there's going to be a lot of shit going on. that also means crappy-quality and bad prices, so watch out for that. otherwise, i've found that the smaller, more chill festivals are where it's at. yeah, i'll still go to Telluride Bluegrass (to The Show - i like where your head's at!) but that's about as big as I want to go. even with the uber-chill vibe at telluride, i still got busted upon leaving town and just narrowly escaped some nasty charges. the one fest i'm looking forward to the most is one i cant even really talk specifics about. if it gets any bigger, it'll be an "invite-only" situation. all i can say is that it's on a large chunk of private property, absolutely NO POLICE or security (just the owners of the place), dogs can run free, and common sense rules all. it's also one of the CLEANEST fests. i've ever been to. you won't even find a cigarette butt on the ground. anywhere. whatever you do this summer, have fun and seek out the vibe that best suits you
i've gone to roo for the last two years, and as far as i'm concerned there is little to be cautious about. the only thing you'll see is some security guards riding around on horses. but roo is a fuckin marketplace for drugs. it's very available and very chill.
