    for you:

at cc: i had the dreads i was talking about in that post for 1 year, like 5 years ago.

the new set you are referring to are gone, however. the twist and rip didnt really form correctly. the backcombed method from 5 years ago worked better but either way i dont have dreads anymore, just offering my advice :)

twist rip method worked great for mine.. i have one dread that was back combed.. its longer and less tight then the rest of them..nothing noticable to the eye of course.. i stand by the twist rip... it doesnt matter much anyway though, its all a matter of time i suppose whichever way you choose to go

oh and for you knotty rush.. i would avoid washing your hair as much as possible... washing you hair with actual cleaser that is.. if i where you, just use water for your cleanser and blow dry afterwards.. they may take a little long to dry but you dont want moldy locks.. the way i tell is by feeling them out and shaking them.

half of my dreads are natural and started forming when i was on the road.. the other half is twist rip.. i have only actually washed my full head of locks twice in the three months ive had them and they are forming beautifully... hair grease is precious for locks... just trust me.. only wash your hair when its like absolutly necessary... other than that, if it dont stink and it dont bother you.. let it be.. just use water for now id say and dont forget to blow dry :) hope this helped
