Did you know apparently in the US if you get a DUI you can't go to Canada for 7 years because apparently they think you'll drive drunk. If anyone else knows of this though what I'd like to know, is this American or Canadian law? And no, I do not have a DUI.
I would expect that it is Canadian law. If it were an American regulation then it would probably specify leaving or entering the United States and not be specific to Canada.
Woah this is news to me, I had no idea a law like this existed whatever country it stems from. Oh and drinking and driving is lame.
I always thought that you couldn't get through to Canada if you had a DUI but I didn't know it lasted for 7 years.
They are really cracking down on drunk driving here. Getting trashed and getting behind the wheel is retarded, but it sucks because if you want to go out now you can't even have like 2 drinks and drive home legally.
That's the ONLY reason I haven't drove to the states yet for a vacation.. My hubby got a DUI before. It also counts for reckless driving, domestic violence, assult, misdemeanor drug possesion, shoplifting... http://www.burglin.com/defense.php
We can't even cross the border with any convictions...it's a pretty severe charge to try and sneak across. I don't have any problems myself...but don't bother going to states anymore since all these stupid rules about needing a passport.
sucks more for them....thers a hell of a lot of Canadian money staying north of the border now...oh well...it's better to keep our own economy going.
Have you seen the Olympics? It's like 50 up there right now. I would love to visit. No DUI problems here.
