I think when people say that "we" are killing children or people or whatever, I think that they mean our war is causing these deaths. Which is accurate. And a this scientific method has been used before for estimating casualties, and has been accurate.
Hey sara check this out then http://www.techcentralstation.com/110104H.html "The research, led by Les Roberts of the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in Baltimore, involved sending teams to interview 998 families in 33 allegedly randomly selected neighborhoods across Iraq. They asked how many people in each household had died and of what, then extrapolated to the nation as a whole. Thence the 100,000 figure, which they claimed was "conservative." But a better word is "worthless." Consider just this: The sample size was so small that the range for deaths was a humongous 8,000 to 194,000. So Roberts and friends just split the difference." Doesn't sound very accuate for me. Perhaps you are wishing for the worst.
SO you assume than counting death reported by the media is a more accurate method than a method that has already been proven accurate in Kosovo? The writer of this article is extremely bias, and does not have near the reputation of the Lancet anyways. The number may not be accurate, but it is likely more accurate than counting media reported deaths. Anyways, Fumento, the author of the article you linked to, also thinks that AIDS is only a homosexual disease. The guy is not right in the head.
Dumb ass insurgents.....ragheads....fuckers Is it any wonder that hate exists between the middle east and the west? Though we don't behead journalists we westerners send our share of hatred to the east. Anyone ever considered how you would react to an occupying army? No matter the reason for the occupation any local population is bound to harbor animosity towards the new power. I mean really, would we all sit back and happily let a foreign power control us. I don't think it would be very hard to start an insurgency. With the infrastructure in shambles, no money, not enough food for your kids and armed foriegners at check points or patrolling your neighborhoods, how hatred can grow.
Of course we would not sit by and let someone take over. I sure don't think I could ever kill ANYONE, but I know for damn sure I wouldn't be killing my own and especially not children. Therin lies a HUGE difference between me and those "insurgents". People fighting for their country is one thing. Killing their own like these guys are doing is another. And I'd say anyone of us who set off car bombs around our kids and innocent civilians is just as bad, and I'd call them fuckers too. Most of the soldiers (except for the idiotic lunatic ones like at Abu Ghraib, who I also call fuckers) are at least TRYING NOT to kill civilians....whether you believe that or not . These insurgents are not...and anyone like that deserves whatever hatred is thrown their way.
There is a big difference between you and those insurgents, sure...but America has it's own share of sick individuals. We are killing eachother all the time. But I don't think that the vast majority of our soldiers are intent on killing civilians. I have more faith in our guys than that.
No, it's a sorry, pathetic attempt to justify a crime. Regardless of whether the marines were taking fire from the mosque, and regardless of the fact that there may have been weapons stored in the mosque, it's clear from the video that when they went into the mosque, they did so in such a manner that indicated that they were not overly concerned about engaging in a fire-fight; meaning, that they felt that whoever was in the mosque had been neutralized. Upon entering the mosque, the marines were moving about in a not all that cautious manner, but then the one Marine suddenly starts to freak out and shoots the guy. It's pretty clear from the tape that the incident was an unprovoked crime. If you want to start using Ollie's rationale for why it isn't, then just about every member of the Waffen SS who killed wounded Allied soldiers was justified in doing so. Face it, the Marine who did the shooting is a criminal and should be treated as such.
Let's not forget Mr. McVeigh, who blew up a building where a daycare full of kids was. I agree with you, and if they practice violence, they will find that they will receive it in return. Live by the sword..... I cannot say that I could never kill someone, though I wish I could say that. I am still unable to accept or forgive certain criminals such as serial killers, and would not hesitate killing one if given the chance. I hope to someday learn why I feel this way, and maybe then I will be able to say I too could not kill anyone. I also have a very dim view of child abusers, and my anger would likely lead to violence if I ever am faced with one, I am sorry to say.
How do you know what he was doing the day before. And if you mean that he was shooting at innocent civilians because they were caught in a crossfire, obviously Americans are guilty of this as well. Moreover, you have to think that many (we'll never know, though) civilians were killed by American bombing and shelling. Add to that the estimated 100,000 civilians to have died since the "Coalition" invaded. I don't think by arguing that what that Marine did is wrong people are condoning what the insurgents are doing. Beheading people is just plain wrong. Both are wrong. But what you seem to be saying is that since they do something atrocious, we can too. That's just plain STUPID.
a salaam alaikum. Allah u akbar. I love you, but I cannot accept such a terribly nasty comment. There are over 6 000 000 Muslims in the US. The vast majority or peaceful, wonderful folk, no worse than you. I would like to say I hate haters, but that would not help anyone, so I say I love you instead.
Such a statement also shows utter ignorance of the fact that Arab Muslims only comprise 20% of the world's adherents to Islam. Thus the poster of that bigotted remark has declared he hates the bulk of the citizens of African nations and the preponderance of East Asian peoples. Sad smug little redneck.
good point, I totally agree. I hope he rethinks his position..... It is after all the same God that we all call by different names, in my view.
Ya, no kidding. What if they don't get his insult? Then the slur would go for nothing, no one offended, his intended goal unrealized. I always say, when you are trying to make a quarter of a billion people your enemies, have the common courtesy to insult them with correct grammar. I hate hate. Love is the only cure.
All of the terrorists are muslim but not all muslims are terrorist. Even though most muslims probably favor their own kind.
A war criminal is a war criminal. It's the height of arrogance to suggest that Americans are somehow incapable of being war criminals.
Old Riley from Fox was defending the marine. Of course, if John Kerry had shot an unarmed, injured combatant, then Fox would be calling him a war criminal and demanding a trial. 30 years from now, that marine can run for President. And if he runs as a Democrat, the American media will call him a war criminal. If he runs as a Republican, the media will praise him like Old Riley just did.
