so i planned this nice vegan thanksgiving dinner 3 out of 4 people that i have invited .. and said they'd come have already canceled seems this always happens to me i plan something and either everyone cancels .. or they just don't show is it my breath? so.. anyone want to come to a vegan thanksgiving?
i just might.. but i think between myself and 3 kids we can eat a whole tofurky.. i just won't make all the food that i had planned on making..
I'll come if you pay for the airfare. But seriously though, you're welcome to come to my vegan Solstice celebration, and bring a dish!
here's a recipe for your thanksgiving dinner Yummy Orangy Yams Ingredients (use vegan versions): 2 med/large sweet potatoes 3 tablespoon non-hydrogenated vegan margarine 1 1/2 tablespoon vegan brown sugar cinnamon (a few good dashes) nutmeg (a small dash) 1/2 cup of orange juice or 1/2 cup crushed pineapple salt to taste Directions: Boil or bake the sweet potatoes until soft. Remove the skins. mash all the remaining ingredients into the potatoes. serve and enjoy!! (If you're wanted a slightly more sweet or festive dish, put the mashed yams in a casserole dish, cover with a layer of vegan marshmallows and bake at 350 until the marshmallows on top turn a light gold color.) This recipe is a wonderful side to any meal, however, when I cook it I usually have a salad or greens, some fried tofu, and some fresh vegan bread with it, and its a lovely meal! Serves: 4 Preparation time: 20 minutes
thanks maybe i'll try that dish for xmas.. so i have enough time to find all the stuff i need to make it. no one store here carries enough of anything to make everything. if i win the lottery tomorrow i'll fly everyone in, just so you can enjoy my cooking of a tasty tofurky.
Maybe we could've joined feasts. I cooked up a yummy totally vegan Thanksgiving feast large enough to feed a family of 8 and it was just my husband and I.
well as it turned out.. no one was coming and my kids decided they wanted to go to grandmas (paternal) to see their uncle. at the last minute my friends husband insisted that i go with them to his mothers. i had just finished cooking my tofurky, so i wrapped it in a big towel still in its foil ball and off we went. i was the only vegetarian there, but 5 people tried the tofurky and all of them liked it. i brought home what was left over and my kids had that for lunch yesterday. "mom do they call it a tofurky, because it looks like a big toe?" TOE FURKY!!
