It is tenuous to those who are not familiar with distinguishing form, from content. It is true all animals have a reproductive strategy. In some cultures it is normal to have more than one wife, an arrangement that would be viscerally abhorrent to some one from a different culture. This is not nature. I abbreviate where I can. Life is short. You actually can't do that. You just end up with baby on the ground and the water drained away. The truth sets us free, but we are possessed, by illusions. Not flippant at all. It is a all encompassing example of what I am referring to. Further friend, it is not like I am swearing at you, where are your cojones.
Like I said, life isn't fair. the Patriot Act is proof the law isn't perfect. But I hardly see it as "oppressing" me, just an annoying invasion of privacy.
Growing up, I just saw many of my African American friends getting loads of scholarships specifically for them, joining Black History groups, going to awesome colleges, etc. doesn't seem so bad to me. Sure, I mean, PEOPLE can be racist douchebags, but as far as the law goes, I think its pretty fair in that regard. Remember, Obama's in office! Si se puede!
Yes, we can be taught to think one way, but choose another. And there's lots of different cultures, beliefs, and types of people in the U.S. I can honestly say the U.S. is one of the most diverse countries out there.
I'm not sure many average people would like their lives characterised as a fashion statement. There are obviously exceptions to the rule. Nothing I have said has disputed these anomalies. Most of what you have said has. As you know it is an idiom. It reminded me of this: The Iraq war is all about oil. It's too simplistic and ultimately false. It is, however, a rather good sound-bite...as many people would prefer to accept that, because the alternative is too complex. If that's your actual pov, fair enough, though. I know. I know. You just sounded like Hotwater. If you don't know him, never mind. My cojones can handle it. Who's privacy?
If you are implying black people are oppressed in the U.S that quote is most laughable, since my city mayor, state governor, and countries president is black. Now if you said that the American people as a whole were oppressed I'd certainly agree with you on that claim.
The US is certainly one of the most free, least oppressive country's in the world. If you want an example of brass cajones, lets just look at the political protesters in Iran or China...those cats got some serious 'nads! When was the last time you saw a journalist imprisoned in the US? Protesters shot? Any white person in America that feels oppressed simply doesn't know the meaning of the word. Ethnic minority's oppressed? Quite possibly. Depends on what part of the country you live. Whites? nope. ZW
The only thing that can be threatened are peoples illusions about themselves and the world. These aren't exceptions to the rule, this is the rule. There is no end to the social experiments undertaken, and what prevails in your neighborhood is not indicative of a universal agreement. Indeed I do and I make a further point. I think it lazy to disregard a point because it is too simple or on the basis that it reminds you of someone you knew before. I stick by my guns, that the status quo amounts to nothing less than a captive breeding program.
seriously! Look at the Middle East. Look at third world countries. I think we're pretty comfy and people aren't thankful or appriciative or don't even realize it.
I'm not going to make this a white or black issue since it isn't, you maybe implying of the old tradition of thinking, in the 21 century though which America is blind, yet not at all classless. I believe that foreign affairs are the reason why we have class prejudice in America today. Some posters on this forum have commented on how other counties are more oppressed than the U.S. Such there may be some differences, but what sets the U.S apart from many of these undeveloped countries is that our forefathers arouse against oppression. These countries that are living in slum today need to do the same for them selves in stead of asking for other countries to interfere which makes an ugly blame game in the end anyway. This comes the conclusion of the idiot logy of globalization in which Europe and most of the world have settled in faction. It saddens me to watch our own military continue to apologies for civilian casualties in places like Iraq, or Afghanistan when in real fact these two counties need to deal with there oppressions on their own level of defense. Most Americans see Afghanistan as ungrateful and complainers of their own creed. I truly never believed in this war, I have the mentality of America foreign policy before Kennedy, in which we stay out of other peoples affairs and if we are attacked we send a massive amount of radiation to the attackers way. There is no such thing as free speech in America, lets face it in today’s America citizens go to prison over lemon lawmakers and illegal residence and foreign big business dominates. That is our America today in her cynicism. Amen
Hahahaha, get out. When it comes to free speech, literal free speech is one of the few things America still ranks top at. any idiot or any asinine political group can go onto the streets and say the most hateful or most paranoid things they want.
I think the most insidious form of oppression that we face, is that we are convinced to collusion with the state against our neighbor.
Apathy. Some one else will take it up if they feel like it. I think tonight imma smoke a joint an' blow some blue notes out my Cornet...~iii< Fuck the clowns... ZW
