I agree that peace is a state of mind, and that's exactly what I've been saying. ALL PEOPLE have internal conflict over various things, because that's part of being human. If you don't experience some sort of inner conflict, then you are a fuckin robot. lol I'm telling the truth about myself and about the world, and that truth is that people suffer and peace is fleeting.
If peace is all you care for, peace is what you'll have. Where our treasure lies, their is our heart also. Storms are caused by uneven heating of the atmosphere. That we want peace in one moment and blood the next, does not reflect on availability.
Choose again, Darlin'. Just choose again. The only thing that matters is the moment you're in. Oooooh, my old hippie skin can handle a few splinters.
Then what is it? I'm sorry but beliefs of hardcore hippies today are far too drastic to be pragmatic, hence why they haven't been adopted. One of the main reasons the hippie movement originally died out is because most of their ideas became mainstream, so being hippie in regards to the 60's became the norm of society by the 70's. For example, war and peace. People are not going to stop fighting anytime soon. You can't disarm all your nuclear weapons or stop advancing military technology under the false premise other countries will magically follow suit and the world will join hands. Green energy - we could have electricity produced by near 100% carbon free sources if the "progressives" didn't shit all over nuclear energy because Three Mile Island had an accident totally done by human error not following regulations that released an insignificant amount of iodine-131 into the air. Environment in general - The earth needs to take some hits for the team, we can't no survive a 21st century lifestyle without cutting down some trees and mining some resources, ect. The Earth is pretty nifty though in how it can recover as long as we come to the realization we can't go overboard. Money - People like money, aside from that money was the greatest idea for economic expansion and human development ever thought of aside being able to grow crops. Stop hating on money. Vegetarianism- I'm not talking about animal welfare, I'm talking about those who have a problem with anyone eating meat in general. Humans are omnivorous, deal with it. The thing is what is "hippie" now isn't hippie, it's extreme. Most hippie ideas, animal welfare, trying to protect the environment, equal rights for everyone, social welfare programs, ect have all become the mainstream. Basically anyone that is moderate or liberal is a "hippie" in the general sense of the term, hence why I'm using the fringe example.
Peace, true inner peace, isn't a "fad". Hippie is just a label. I adopted it to fit in with like minded people. I eat meat, I shop at walmart when I'm broke, I drive a car. I'm fat. That's not very hippie. So, I could be considered a poser. The hippie label was just a generalization given to me cuz I'm a stoner. But, I'm not a poser in peace. That's the hippie I identify with.
I agree, to an extent, but without rainy days, sunny days wouldn't be quite as special. Without negativity, positivity would lose it's purpose and people would begin to take it for granted.
I recently learned that the days don't actually need to be special. Sunny days aren't special because there's no rain. We need rainy days just as much so things can grow. The days are just days. We fill them how we wish.
lol "Rainy" and "sunny" were intended to be metaphors. Rainy = bad times. Sunny = good times. We need bad days to fully appreciate the good days. Sunny days wouldn't be special if it wasn't for rain. Joy wouldn't feel so good if it wasn't for pain.
OMG my whole crappy car day has been loaded with gratitude! Probably why there wasn't a small eruption when I was stuck in the intersection. I remembered my manners and my gratitude.
I caught your metaphor and I was maintaining it. Love, my baaaad times have helped bring me to the good times I'm having now. I know there are more bad times coming, but I'm not worrying about those til they get here. Being grateful and appreciative doesn't need anything bad to happen, though. It's often prevents the bad.
Yes- and it often reflects back to you complicating things further. I think people are clueless to how much sway they have over their own states of mind.
It depends what way you percieve things, whether negativity is momentary or whether peace is. For me, negativity has and always will be momentary, without negativity how could we appreciate peace?
OMG... Everyone forgets that they're not in these little cubicles and that there are actually others affected by their chaos cloud. And some just flat out don't care. They want everyone to feel as crappy and angry as they do. I remember and know what I do, but sometimes I have a minor explosion that makes my immediate situation go from bad to suck ass in a heartbeat. It's gone and become contagious before I can even take it back. Anyway, I like laughing better. And it's contagious, as well.
considering a radical trys to enduce change through wiolence, i dont think anyone who promotes peace is a radical.
