    Hi everyone,

My girlfriend is on Alesse, and she takes it regularly everyday. She as been on it for about 3 months now.

It's a 21 day cycle on, and 7 days off during the period.

My questions, is every time the cycle restarts and she is back on the pill on day 1 after her period ends, ... do I have to use a different method of contraceptive on the first day of every new cycle of the pill?

I hope I am explaining this right.

technically the pill covers you for every single day until you stop taking it, provided you are taking it 100% perfectly.

with that said it's best to use 2 methods anyway.

I get what you mean, and no you do not need to use a different form of contraception the day after her period ends so long as she also begins her pill on that day.

If she is using it perfectly, i would still recommend spermicide. I personally take mine at 1pm every single day, never missed it, but spermicide is still a must. Cant go wrong with a little extra protection.
