telling your parents you smoke

i believe my parents know i smoke... there have been countless situations where i thought i was cautious but instead i was dumb for believing that i could trick my parents.

i do believe that theyre ok with it, but neither claim to have smoked it. im 18 and feel that it's appropriate for me to do what i want.

what approach did you use to tell your parents you smoke?
and, do they let you smoke in the house? how did you ask permission to smoke inside?

 

I used the classy "Wait till they find you high as fuck" method. They ended up being fine with it, they just wished I had told them rather than tried to hide it.

 

I smoke with my mom, so I can't offer too much advice here...

 

Your 18 so they really cant do to much. As long as you dont bring bud into their house you will be fine

 

Aren't we forgetting the legality of the whole thing?

My parents found out I had been smoking dope when they found a bong under my bed, was made from a shampoo bottle and a pen!

Didn't help that I was like 15. Since you are 18, then maybe they'll cut you some slack but I say not to get your hopes up. It's better to get it out there though 'cos regardless of the outcome your mind will be at rest.

 

They're not stupid - they probably did exactly the same thing when they were your age. A lot of my friends only smoke cigarettes and at 24 still hide it from their folks which is so silly! They may be disappointed yes, but then it is your life, your lungs...

im 16 and got caught a few months ago. my parents think weed is like meth or something. they are ignorant as fuck. i also get piss tested randomly, their point of view is that since it is their house, what they say goes. so if i were you, iwouldnt tell them or they might flip shit and kick u out. btw writing this on my iphone, so prolly some spelling errors on this

 

I wouldnt tell your parents. Is it something that they have to know? I never told mine but I am sure they have their suspicions. A few months back my mom was trying to sneak one up on me by knocking on my bedroom door and asking if I was smoking pot. I just told her that I was burning incense after that she just said that it smelt like pot. I wouldnt know what that smells like. That was the extent of the conversation.

 

well, when your an adult under your own roof it wont matter right? you wouldnt spit in your parent's face so dont do it in their house. once you make your own rules then whose right do they have in horning in on your business? it is illegal. unless you can bargain a true medical condition for using it dont bother asking.

 

The only approach that happened was them walking into my room without knocking and witnessing me smoking weed, their eyes did all the explaining for them. My mom didn't care, my dad did, and he was the one who smoked marijuana in the house already.

yea, my parents know too. it wasn't a matter of telling them, but getting caught several times. the most recent time was this weekend. we were at a family party and i stepped out to smoke the end of a J. my dad saw me through a window and was saying stuff to my mom i guess. then i tried to avoid them, played outside with the kids and my dad was out there having a cig and he threw a snowball at me, joking around. he didn't seem to mad. five minutes after coming inside my mom said they saw me smoking outside, and they know i don't smoke cigs, so they know what i was smoking. all i said was "i guess you caught me then."

you know your parents best, but maybe i wouldn't straight up tell them

 

my parents have been really liberal and allowed me to smoke a lot. now though, my mum is worried for me and she doesn't know what to do.. lol. she hates the smell so now i have to take snappers and blow the shit out the window. I'm saving up and moving to amsterdam or alkmaar. got 3 thousand pounds so far. when i get to ten it's time to move. my dad's cool but my mum and i have nothing in common. most women just hate cannabis ffs..

 

My parents smoked when they were younger. My parents more or less go by the don't ask don't tell method. As long as I don't bring drugs into their home then I can do what I do outside the house.

 

I told mine but I knew the drugs they did back in the day. I just straight up told them. And the whole smoking in the house, don't even bother. Is it really that big of a deal to just step outside and smoke in the backyard?

 

i smoked in the house while i was in high school, they never suspected a thing because i was sly about it. when i graduated and started smoking with my mom, i was sort of like "oh by the way.... i've been doing this for awhile now" and she didn't really care. but everyone is different.

I'm rather confused... how is it that people who are in there mid-twenties are still getting "caught" smoking? By this point they really, really shouldn't have any bearing on it.

BTW, before I'd ever even tried it I started growing my hair out and my dad basically said "your choices are yours, but not in my house, ok?" and that was that. I've since moved out.
