I also want to point out that there is a huge difference between dog aggression and human aggression. dog aggression is a pretty normal trait in pits, as a result if their breeding and heritage. however, a properly socialized pit can get along great with other animals. I have a male Weimaraner as well, and they are like brothers. they play rough but have never fought.

my gfs beagle is very aggressive. when that dog attacks him, all he does is hold her back and then gets all playful, like he's saying damn bitch chill..

human aggression is NOT a normal trait in pits, and us either the result of bad breeding or neglect/abuse. think of it this way, when two dogs were in the pit fighting each other, there were also two handlers in the pit to break it up when necessary. anytime a dog redirected aggression toward a human, it was killed. this took place for generations upon generations of the dogs.. effectively selectively breeding human aggression out of the bloodlines.

as I said before, most of the dogs in the
media or around your neighborhoods aren't pure american pit bull terriers. pit bull in itself isn't even a specific breed, it's a type

 

Chihuahuas are much more aggressive than pits, in my experience. lol

 

Seriously guys, the fact that pit bull attacks on humans and other animals outnumber other dog breed attacks by a massive amount is just your dog-racism taking over.

 

meanest dog I had was this poodle mix with some other bread. I cant remember but this lil fucker was sooo mean. It was good he was teacup size. Otherwise, he would definitely had to have been put down. His size just made it funny as hell.

whenever my gramma's pit, mindy, would get that look in her eye like she was going to digest my baby sister, i'd just yell "rat" or "meow" and mindy would race out the house and start ramming her head on the old log in the yard. crazy ass dog. fucking funny, though.

 

how many pits are out there in comparison to other breeds? it is a very popular dog. and is also the breed that has the highest rate of shitty and abusive owners. any dog will get mean being tied to a chain all day. ever think about that?

breed specific legislation is something I take very seriously, because my dogs are family. you cannot just condem an entire type of dog that way. if anything, owner specific legislation could be pushed, but taking loveable dogs out of responsible homes is just plain wrong

 

dog breed genocide is distasteful. i won't have one, my little ones have a hard enough time with our lab. and as our pits got old, well, they got hard to handle.

This is true. Many people specifically raise pits to be mean and aggressive. The pits I've known have been loved and treated like they were part of the family, so as a result, they have always been very friendly.

 

Man, I aint just sayin anything to one up here but my pit was raised with love and beauty and still did everything it could to tear my moms face off. Probably bad breeding but fawck, man. Just for me, it aint worth the risk. Thats why i said they are a third strike dog for me.

I don't mind pitbulls, not my type of dog though. I think it's fucked how many ass holes abuse them though... I had a friend who worked at a humane society shelter and she said probably the most abused dogs coming in were pits.

I just think the ones that got "fucked over" should be put to sleep. No need for them to be alive

but what it comes down to is how people feel about them through experience, Id be sounding like a dummy if i havent seen any attack and assumed that pit bulls are bad in SOME way.

hell back in october, my neighbor seemed to have the 2 nicest pits for yeArs and my cat was walking around the yard one time and one of them went crazy an d busTed down a wooden gate and went after my cat, i was half way in the huse getting the gun cause there was a 10month old baby sitting in the grass and my cat turned away and the dog charged towards the baby and i shot him in the head.

My neighbor had NO sympathy or wondered if the baby was ok, he wanted me arrested but after my story the cop told him if his other ever charged at another animal or kid again, he'd be getting arrrested

So yes, you never know with them
