These days it seems, there is an earthquake about once a week that we feel..last week there were 3 quakes over a 4.0 in about an hour, with the epicenter in Redlands, which is about 10 miles from me..just comes with the territory..I don't really trip on them to much..some day there will be a day though..
There’s an active fault North of Boston which triggered The Great Boston Earthquake of 1755 It cuts across the Massachusetts - New Hampshire border which is why even up here we experience a sub 3.0 earthquake two or three times a year Hotwater
I watched a video once where they explained that there's a black hole moving around our universe that will, eventually, suck up all planets... including earth. The first planet to be sucked up will be saturn and when that starts to happen, earth will start feeling the effects. When this process starts, earth will face continuous natural disasters, such as earthquakes. Look it up in youtube to see if you find it. "black hole end of the world" or something.
earthquakes tend to do that. it's pretty normal. not to say another huge one won't hit to adjust for all the faultline movement elsewhere, but it's still pretty normal.
Living here in this region of the country we never get in on any of that good shit others around the country and around the world experience. We’ll get hit by an occasional paralyzing blizzard or ice storm but otherwise no massive brushfires, forest fires, mudslides, avalanches, earthquakes, tornadoes, hurricanes, floods, hailstorms, dust storms, or any other extreme weather phenomena Hotwater
the occaisional ice storm would cripple me. i wouldn't know how to survive. so don't be too down on yourself.
Ice storms are probably as close we’ll ever get to extreme weather, only because it usually takes weeks before power is entirely restored Hotwater
Last year's storm was amazing https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OLZebHkfZC4"]YouTube- Ice Storm Freezes New England Hotwater
we have flooding here right now. and we get bush fires every year. and sometimes tsunami warnings but nothing to show for it. I plan to go to tornado alley one day and follow some twisters. it's on my to do list.
i read where chileans are "looting" markets. is it really looting when you're going for water, food and other essentials? i mean, they made it sound so sordid, but it's not like the LA riots where people got all stupid for tvs and stuff.
The grocery stores are probably closed due to structural damage and lack of power. Do they expect people to just starve quietly? Not going to happen.
well, i saw a pic of the army keeping the peace and letting people just go in and out for their supplies. that seems reasonable.
And the ones stealing food and water are survivors As a civilized people we really are just one small disaster away from complete chaos Hotwater
