hey guys and gals, I'm Vince. 17, still a kid. Give it a week. Anywhos, came here 'cuz I was going through that phase, you know, you're thinking nothing but 'why the heck am I doing this again'? Looked around, checked out what some of y'all have accomplished with your hair, and now I'm all good again. Figured I might as well start up a timeline like some of y'all have, to make it easier to convince myself that my hair is steadily improving and moving toward where I want 'em to be.

I started allowing my hair to dread naturally some time last year, I think April. I wash it more often than folks say I should and use certain shampoos on it every now and then but otherwise I don't tamper with it at all. I don't twist, don't roll, don't use wax or anything. Mostly because I'm xta lazy. I took this pic in October (six months in), it's not the best picture (actually, I really don't like the pic at all) but it's the only one I've got that gets a half decent look at my hair.

The dreads have made significant progress, I'd post pictures but my camera is AWOL. Expect 'em when I find the thing.

thanks guys. greendancinbear, I am indeed halfrican.

My dreads are locking up pretty quickly, especially in the back. In fact, nearly all of my hair except for the hair at the very front of my head has pretty much sectioned itself out, and it's all locking up surprisingly close to my scalp. I'd say a little less than half an inch between where most of my dreads lock and my scalp, which is apparently good. Right now, my biggest problem is dandruff. I've been thinking about tying my hair back or holding it back with a bandana, but when I do it exposes the lower sections of my hair and there's dandruff all over. Any suggestions on how to deal with this?

rosemary leaves boiled in water, to make a rosemary "tea" concoction. then let it cool down and rub it into your roots/scalp. helps clear up dandruff and soothe scalp :) plus it smells good :D

Thanks bro. That really helped with the dandruff but my head still itches whenever I get hot. It's all good though, I just gotta keep my head cool.

some more recent pics for you guys (taken yesterday actually)

the dreads up front are taking their time locking, but the ones in the back are doing quite nicely for eleven months.
