Okay. Admittedly, I'm out of the loop... I avoid watching tv, especially the news and I do not read the newspaper... So, maybe this is old hat and I've just found out about it...? I dunno...

But, I just read this article: http://www.haarp.net and an associated article: http://www.haarp.net/tennessee.htm and I must say, I'm quite disturbed by it...

Has anyone else heard of this?

Hey Pressed Rat... Long time no see... :)

So, what's your take on it?

When I approached my friend with this same message, she responded "Do you always believe everything you read on the internet?" No, I don't. But some other folks were discussing it and so I was doing some research... That's when I found that site...

And I have gone to the site that's the REAL HAARP site, thru the University of Alaska. I was not impressed with the lack of information on that site. Though it does clearly state that some equipment was installed by the Naval Air Warfare Center. What does the NAWC want with some benign technology?

    I dunno... I don't like it...

Well, I should start off by saying that most people are completely unaware of the existence of HAARP, and that the mainstream media never mentions it. So, you are not alone in never hearing about it before. And I am sure the government would like to keep it that way.

    Anyway...

I think HAARP should be a cause for concern for any person who questions things, since it is so veiled in secrecy. Anytime that high-frequency radio waves are used to alter the ionosphere -- hence the weather -- you really have to ask yourself what the true purpose and intention of it is. Some might say it's simply a matter of atmospheric research. But these same people also don't take into consideration that superheating parts of the atmosphere can create catastrophic weather conditions on various parts of the globe. So in the wrong hands it could be very dangerous.

The project is managed jointly by the Air Force Research Laboratory and the Office of Naval Research, but its specifications were supposedly developed by a consortium of universities who are interested in ionospheric research. The Department of Defense says that is only interested in this field because of its use of many communication and navigation systems that are dependent on the ionosphere and ionospheric phenomena. (yeah right!)

HAARP draws a lot of attention to so-called "conspiracy theorists" (as I am often called), and some people believe that it can be used to alter people's brain waves, as a form of mind control -- though I am not too sure of the validity behind that.

Many people also believe that HAARP can be used to trigger massive explosions within the atmosphere, as a type of WMD or "weather warfare", capable of wiping out entire populations. This is a much more possible scenario than the aforementioned, and points to why the military has such an interest in it.

HAARP poses a definite cause for concern, and I think everyone should do some reading up on it. They'll probably be left with even more questions than answers, as I am sure you were.

If you're interested in learning more about this, check out this article by Michael Chossudovsky:

I am not sure if you are familiar with the late-night radio talkshow Coast to Coast AM, but a few weeks ago, on the show, Art Bell played actual sound bites of the frequencies used by HAARP. This is incredibly bizarre, and listening to it creates this very weird feeling (at least for me it did). Check it out for yourself:

Thanks for the links. I will definitely check them out.

I tend toward "conspiracy theorist" myself... Always have... I just have an inherent mistrust of the government, I guess...

But hey, just because you're paranoid, doesn't mean they aren't out to get you. ;)

on tv i try to catch programs such as NOVA, etc, and i stay away from sitcoms and other hollywood programs, i dont buy movies to help richen the movie industry, same with music, i dont earn the gov't money, i dont buy anything unless i really have to have it in order to survive, ie food, water, etc, i dont smoke and therefore give money to tobacco corporations, i drive a compact truck with 4 cyl engine and uses little gas, so i am giving very little to the oil companies, ive been drastically reducing my material posessions, i never have had much other than a ton of cars and trucks and parts and such, but ive stopped all that and gotten rid of 90% of it all now since 2002

i live alot differently now than i used to just a couple short years ago and before, from about 1996 til 2002 these companies and the govt got alot of my $...
    but never again!

    ive learned my lessons

our life should be more focused on not richening up the corporations' pockets, spending only on what we need to,

wheres the group of ppl that believe in the same as i do ?

    maybe i should start a thread ?

    hmm

    peace

Hey randy... Why don't you check out the Environment forum. You should find some topics more suited to your interests. Which are very cool, btw. :)

i heard about this about 15 years ago,, it was sapose to be a secret but somebody on the project snitched them off,, apparently they wernt sure what would happen when they fired it off and punched a hole through the atmosphere, but they were told there was a slight chance it would force a chunk of the atmosphere off the planet, needless to say they did it anyway

When I listened to the first one, my eyes rolled back into my head, and pineal gland saw nothing but a dim swirling grey. The second sounded like a siren bringing a small feeling of paranoia, and confusion. It was quite interesting on the second example how the tones fluctuated up and then down.

    I dont like it.
