if there is a purpose -- i do believe it would be about the here and now about interacting with others - and learning about ourselves as we do-- maybe love does have something to do with it.
I think we already saw that scale link. But yes, that documentary site is pretty sweet. Thanks a lot for posting it, now I have a shitload of things to philosophize and learn about.
okay so eternity=infinity, yes? So this is still thread-relevant. Infinity + infinity= infinity, infinity - 234342 = infinity, but infinity-infinity=whatever number you like. Right?
Pretty much what he said^ There is no such place or object that I could point at and say here it is this is infinity. All the things described as being infinite are merely speculations we may think something can have the potential in being infinite but in the end no 1 can observe such a grand phenomena so really the only limitations infinity/eternity has is our imagination + or – the answer will always be equally correct and wrong at the same time. Infinity + infinity = this screws with my head. For infinity to exist it has to be endless and boundless so how can two infinity's coexist at the same time, wouldn't one infinity occupy all of the space in existence? Saying that I could – or + something from or to infinity means that there is something outside of infinity which means there has to be an edge/end where our so called infinity stops and this other amount of space starts.
I'm not sure. Saying you could subtract or add something from infinity is not to say there are things outside of it, but that there are things within it. Just like if you're playing a video game, and you permanently have 99 lives (AKA Infinite lives) You can die, and you will STILL die, but there will remain infinite lives after that death, despite the fact that you just lost one. P.S, greatest thread ever.
most humans are pretty narrow minded, we notice that there is a beginning and an end to our lives so to us that must mean there is a beginning and end to everything right? not. time is just a human trait that came along with society, if you ask the aboriginals about time or the hopi indians about time they will tell you they dont have a word for time. and as far as eternity goes, nothing in the physical will live for eternity, everything in the physical universe has its life clock counting down right now, eternity only exists in the realm of pure conciousness or the spirit world, but it is not quite 'eternity' as we understand it because there is no time in the after life there just IS. =)
