Well I stole two library books from the juvenile and detention center I was locked up in. They took my freedom and my dignity, I took a kurt vonnegut book from each of them. But yeah, I wouldn't steal from a public library. I stole the movie Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas from the rental place... but that's just the kind of thing that's best to own stolen
yes.. public library.. no.. definitely not! those belong to everyone... not just 'you' because 'you' decide to keep it. i knew a girl in highschool that would cut pictures out of library books then act like she didn't when she brought them back.. ruins the whole book.. duh! but yes, if you're locked up thats different.. those books are going to get trashed anyways and they belong to where ever it is you're at, not the public.
I stole a bunch of the Harvard Classics from my high school library. Nobody was reading them, so I don't really care. A bunch great classic literature.
funny, i just purchased my very first library card today and am very exited at all the free stuff i get to borrow! It cost be 40$ for a year.(I don't live in the city so i have to pay) that is a great deal ! I rented a movie, took out 2cd's and 2 books. total score! peace.love.light p.s I will return them on time
I hate that! Seriously, if you must steal, steal from a corporate bookstore or something, not a public library. I also hate it when someone tears the last page out of a book and puts it back. Obviously the work of sociopaths.
Borrowing without returning is even more risky than stealing it without checking it out at the desk. I saw a news clip of some woman who was pulled over on the highway, arrested, and cuffed for a public library book that was overdue by a couple months. The book in that case was property of the state government, which often funds local libraries. .
Even stranger story I saw on a documentary. Some guy would steal old books from libraries simply to refurbish them. Sometimes he would also go through garbage dumps and refurbish old books. Some of the books he stole from libraries were funded by the federal government. He went to jail for a couple years, was released, then caught rummaging through a dumpster again. The second time they sentenced him to 5 years in prison. He could have gotten a nice job at the library as an archivist. .
