Sometimes there are accidents that can't be avoided. Shit happens. That shouldn't take away from the good that's trying to be done.

Its a problem when its purposely done.

Once again, I agree... sometimes shit does happen, but that shit, is what makes no war just.

Name the war that your country has been involved in that we haven't stood beside you or in some cases, in front of you.

Just because my country is involved, doesn't mean I think the wars are just.

three quotes from ernest hemingway fit this thread well.
"I know war as few other men now living know it, and nothing to me is more revolting. I have long advocated its complete abolition, as its very destructiveness on both friend and foe has rendered it useless as a method of settling international disputes."

"Never think that war, no matter how necessary, nor how justified, is not a crime."

"The first panacea for a mismanaged nation is inflation of the currency; the second is war. Both bring a temporary prosperity; both bring a permanent ruin. But both are the refuge of political and economic opportunists."

I know war. Its not fun. But to say that it isn't necessary sometimes is absurd.

I soo agree with you on this one. Sometimes you have to defend yourself. War isn't fun, everyone (usually) wants peace, but if you gotta defend yourself to survive, then I think its justified.

If you have to defend yourself to survive, yes you are justified.

I'm glad you acknowledge that defense is important, though killing innocents is still wrong.

agreed. killing is evil, but it can still be justified in the case of self defense, etc.

Wars are the result of the age old lust for power/riches that have gone on as long as humans have been extant. It's the main weakness in human nature that keeps us where we are with war, torture, ect.None of it is just --it just is. Evolution has been helpfull to humans in many ways, however until they/we are able to somehow convince EVERYONE (actually, the powerfull)that no one should starve-none should be homeless-everyone on earth should be taken care of medically and war is insane at this point in time, nothing will/can change and evolution has not been successfull,IMO. The money-grubbers don't have a worry in the world because these things will never happen ,IMO. I guess it just feels too good to be "powerfull and important" -to have much -while some have nothing. Sad scene.

Let me help those too stupid to figure this out...

Every ally that we share, would side with canada over the US, for the simple reason that if the US could attack its closest neighbor, friend and ally, each would assume that they would be next.

Beyond that, all of the commonwealth nations would AUTOMATICALLY support canada over the US. (you really dont need that explained do you)...

To top it off, every enemy and wannabe enemy of the US would also side with us just for the sake of going against the US.

So, let me repeat... I would love to fucking see it...

war can be necessary but i dont think it's just,
those who suffer the most from war are usualy those with no reason to hate the enemy

The commonwealth is not the commonwealth of 1940, I don't think Pakistan is coming to Canada's side. No one would support Canada, you can't even pass a UN resolution since we have veto power. America's military budget is almost 40% of the world's military spending. No one goes against us.

I really thought I had seen the height of stupidity from you... so congratulations, you proved me wrong on something...

    Remember 9/11?
Remember those troops over in afghanastan and iraq?
How many more american troops are spread around the world fighting these people you say don't exist?

Oh tom, will you ever not have to resort to insulting people..

The U.S. invading canada would not be WWIII lol.
And you can be sure if we were to invade, it wouldn't be simply under the pretext of "lol we want canada"

    Yeah...
I think this apparent burning desire of yours explains a lot of your opinions about the world in general

9/11 wasn't an attack by an independent country, last time a country actually attacked the United States would be Dec. 7 1941, or Dec. 11 if you count Germany and Italy's declaration of war. You apparently missed the 8 years of talking points over the fact Iraq did not attack us, and even Afghanistan didn't attack us.

    You said, and I quote;

Where did you say no country would attack you?

It's sad when you even mis-represent what you say yourself...
