I felt compelled to write this thread because I live very close to Hannibal,MO.What is your take on the use of the word "******"in "Tom Sawyer" or "huck finn"?I personally don't feel it was used in a racist context.Mssouri was a slave state."****** Jim" was a slave,but also their freind.Personally,I think it was just the slang of the time,not meant to be derogatory.What is your opinion on it?
