I'm not that huge a fan, but always have some around because my omni folks are happy to eat it. Must be pretty good then.
Quorn is a meat substitute made from fungi protein called mycoprotein. In the Uk, quorn is pretty much synonymous with vegetarianism, to a greater extent than tofu.
I love it, always have it around. It's great, cause I hate tofu, makes me gag, so it's a quick easy source of protien that tastes great. I've heard alot of stuff against it though, wait to check it out before you form an opinion
LOL, yea i dont feel the need for quorn. I always got a buncha portabellas and other kindsa yummy mushrooms around here, since i am in pennsylvania cow poop central haha well, Mushroom central I would think mushrooms would be meaty enough. i guess not and the person who doesnt like tofu, I agree wwith in a sense, but there are certain ways to cook it that are amazing!!!!!!!!
i tried it once years ago.. and got deadly ill afterwards. i'll never know if it was the quorn or something else that made me so sick.. but i could never even look at quorn after that.. plus now i'm vegan so i wouldn't eat it anymore
booga itll be the quorn...quorn has made thousands deadly ill It isnt really a fungus as you imagine it...like some little mushroom-type thing...no, its really...MOULD. Thats right, mould. The stuff that they call "blight" when its in potatoes. They grow it artificially in giant vats aiding the process with many different chemicals When a potato or any other vegetable contains this mould, people throw them away saying they are infected. Yet quorn manufactures this as food I used to eat quorn as a veggie. I learnt the truth around about the same time i became vegan, so that was handy at least. But its nasty stuff. Dont eat!
Oh for goodness sake. To say quorn is the same as potato blight is like saying cows are the sme as foxes because both are mammals. Indeed quorn does indeed fall under the same category [mycoprotein] as mould, and such; but it's not much diffrent to nutritional yeast or penicillin. Nobody's scared of that are they? Yes there have been cases of people being allergic to quorn; but that's true of any food product. Overall cases of allergies are very rare. Anything can be twisted to sound terrible, when in actuality it's fairly harmless. Lots of absurd fuss over nothing much.
yeh I am not sure if I have ever had it but I have never seen it listed as an ingredient on anything so I am going with "never tried it". Any ideas about anything in Aus that might contain it or is it non existant here?
http://www.foodrevolution.org/askjohn/35.htm No really, more people than is natural HAVE BEEN affected by this stuff I will find more links for you when im not in so much of a hurry But im pretty good at spotting the hype from the cause for concern I DO do my research and i really feel i am NOT being absurd Thanks
