hey , could any one help me by telling me of any good sites for beginner grow kits that dont exceed 100$.and one that would be safe for not getting sketchy with the cops. By the way i live in North America
yeah anybody know of a kit that a first timer can get and not ahve to do extensive research on and not have to buy like spores and a whole bunch of other shit. anybody know a place where i can get the whole 9 yards for cheap?
Hey guys, I think the grow kits are rip offs, anyone can buy the materials to grow Oz's of good shrooms at home for around $30, all you need is vermeculite, brown rice flour, perlite and spores, you mix the materials in mason jars and once the mycilium has taken over you fruit them in a growbox you make from a cardboard box, its the basic way to grow mushrooms called the PF tek, once you got that down pat you can start making casings which double your harvest, not to hard to do at all and youll save huge $$$, if anyone has any q's on how to grow mushies you can email me back at all_the_way_from_here@hushmail.com
Don't be lazy and you will be rewarded. Do some reading and do everything yourself, it WILL be worth it, And yes it will also be under 100$.
it's not a kit, but i got a dozen PF jars from www.pfjars.com, they worked very well, and it took all the work and not to mention all the trial and errer out of it. Add a rubbermaid tub and perlite humidification and thats all the grow kit your ever going to need. Plus it only cost $50 including shipping. Their the only ones i know that don't charge you a ton of money for shipping.
That's the biggest rip off, wow, I can't believe it. Alright, here's how you make this work: Goto: www.sporeworks.com No documented cases of anyone's door busted down for buying spores or marijuana seeds in America Order some cubes. -$17 ($83) Buy a case of 12 pint-sized canning jars -$10 ($73) Buy a bag of polyfil@ Wal-Mart (in the sewing/homemaker area) -$1 ($72) and a tube of silicone gel -$3 ($69). Buy a pressure cooker -$40 (ouch! $33) Go home. Punch 2 holes in each of 6 jar lids (I recommend not innoculating more than 6 jars from a syringe) across from each other, as if halfing the circle with an imaginary line. Fill one hole with polyfil so it fits snugly. Apply a generous glob of silicone gel to the other hole, this is your self-healing injector site for the spores. Buy a 50 lb bag of rye grass seed from a feed store if you have one in your town. IT SHOULD BE ORGANIC, if not at LEAST fungicide-free. -$15 ($18). A good indication of this will be if it comes in a regular type sack, either that fibrous nylon material or a paper bag. Put 1 cup rye and .7 cup hot water in each of 6 jars, take some aluminum foil and cover tops (tops on hole, foil on tops), and let sit for 24 hours. This will allow all (read: MOST) of the endospores of any competing bacteria/fungus to germinate. This will greatly aid you in killing the bad guys, because endospores are really hard to kill, but once they germinate it's easy (read: not TOO hard) as pie. Read pressure cooker instructions and cook your jars for 2 hours at 15 psi (better safe than sorry). Let jars cool to room temperature. Okay, the hardest part. Make a glovebox out of a rubbermaid (directions for such on mycotopia.net under Archives, then glovebox, or search for it). -$8ish. ($10). Get some cotton balls and a bottle of rubbing alcohol and clean EVERYTHING inside your glovebox. Spray air in room down with 10% bleach solution, if you have an air purifyer, now's going to be a good time to use it. Clean your jars, clean your syringe, and stick syringe into glob of silicone, squirt appr. 2cc's of syringe into each jar (hope you remembered to shake your syringe to break the spores up and to store it so the needle doesn't point down or up, but is sideways). Keep warm and in the dark for at least a week, then check it out and be amazed. Once jars are fully colonized it's time to get to work on a fruiting chamber. Since we only have $10 left, this might get tricky. Buy a Rubbermaid from BigLots-type store, appr. $4. ($6 left). Buy a roll of plastic sheeting, clear. -$4. ($2). Buy a spray bottle that's never had any chemicals in it, scrounge in couch for change for this, it'll be cheap. If you find some bills, that'll be extra-sweet, because you still need a bottle of distilled water. Get ahold of some cowshit. I don't care how you get it done, just do it. Cook in a big pot in your oven for... wow, mind's completely spacing here, I'll get back with you on it before you get to this step. By this point, you've cut out a hole in the top of the rubbermaid (unless you found a clear one for cheap) and have craftily (I'm not telling you how to do EVERYTHING, okay???) managed to fit the plastic wrap snugly covering the hole. Dump the cow poo in the rubbermaid, let it cool. Add some distilled water if it looks dry. Take four (4) colonized jars and dump them into the cow poo, mixing thoroughly with hands that you just cleaned with rubbing alcohol. So you've got two (2) jars chillin', fully colonized, and 10 empty jars. Cook all of these jars and do a grain-to-grain transfer to beef up your spawn, one (1) full jar will easily be transferred to five (5) more jars. Let the cow poo sit in the dark for about a week, check it, wait till it's all white. Start misting sides of container to achieve high humidity, 90%+. Let it get light (sunlight if you can, actually, a plant light if you can still afford it) 12 hrs a day. Keep humidity high and you should see caps. Start-to-finish, appr. 1.5 months. Good luck! Snoop around on mycotopia.net for any questions you've got. Go to the library and read "Prometheus Rising" and apply it to your operation while you're doing it.
have you actually tried this method?? it sounds hokey as hell. I have never gotten anything to grow on either rye grass seed or cowshit... that polyfill method is BS too i think, and the silicone self healing injection port doesn't work as advertised. i swear by the PF-Tek method, no room for errors, its almost foolproof. I also doubt you can buy a pressure cooker that holds more than 5 jars for $40, unless you buy used.
