Different as always, I live in the US and actually need to GAIN weight. Any body got a recipe for some kind of nutrition bar type thing that would help me gain weight? I was thinking of getting a bunch of those "powerbars" but those things are kinda spendy on my budget.
Ice cream and red wine. Ice cream makes most people fat who eat it to excess. The red wine will help keep your arteries clean. Butter is also good. Make some butter cookies. * 1 cup butter * 1 cup white sugar * 1 egg * 2 2/3 cups all-purpose flour * 1/4 teaspoon salt * 2 teaspoons vanilla extract 1. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and white sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg, then stir in the vanilla. Combine the flour and salt; stir into the sugar mixture. Cover dough, and chill for at least one hour. Chill cookie sheets. 2. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Press dough out onto ungreased, chilled cookie sheets. 3. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven, or until lightly golden at the edges. Remove from cookie sheets to cool on wire racks. Just watch in your zeal to gain weight, you don't wreck your health at the same time. You must find a balance. x
Thanx xexon. Yeah, ya gotta watch the cholesterol. Red wine is good for that. I bet those cookies would be good with peanut butter. I'm eating a lot of peanut butter too. Hmm I guess a Merlot might be alright...but definitely not with cookies and penut butter. lol
If you want to do it healthily, I'd advise you to increase nuts (including peanut/almond butter) and whole-grain carbs. Loading up on junk food will probably make you feel terrible
yeah you dont wanna get unhealthy weight. Eat lots of healthy food. haha im not very helpful. Salad? Carbs? Protein and work out if you wanna gain muscle weight.
Gain lean muscle mass. Increase your protein intake (healthy, lean sources) by a few grams more than the standard, recommended amount for your gender/age/weight (you only need a few extra grams per day to gain lean muscle and too much extra won't do anything for you), and add a few more calories to your diet as well, but not empty calories of junk food. Doing fruit and plain yogurt smoothies to supplement all your meals will be a great help. Of course for the dietary changes to work, a strength training program will be essential. You don't necessarily have to join a gym to do muscle-building exercises. I use strength bands to do my weight training (Bodylastics are the brand I use - Google them). I'm still a little too fat but I've found that having more lean muscle mass makes me feel better. It's a better way to gain weight if you're underweight than getting fat, as well. You'll be healthier for it! Good luck!
One thing I forgot to mention, if you do a healthy weight-gain regimen and still find it very hard to gain any muscle or weight, I would go have your thyroid checked. It may be overactive. A very skinny friend of mine had years of frustration trying to put weight on and once she found out her thyroid was too active, she began medication for it and has been able to put on a healthy amount of weight.
