This is not intended as an attack on Christianity. I am a Christian myself, and attend church with a fair degree of regularity. Nevertheless, I encountered this song on the internet, and ask for opinions about it.

The Westboro Baptist Church is only one church congregation. I consider it too bizarre to take seriously, but it is good for a few laughs.

Childhood indoctrination is usually fairly durable, but some people always reject it. Sooner or later a child raised in this cult will reject it, and expose it. It will be interesting to read of the indoctrination sessions, and probably the frequent use of corporeal punishment to raise people to be this way.

The Westboro Baptist Church can be seen as an example of collective psychosis.

My hope is that those who reject this cult do not also reject Christianity, but I am afraid they will.

just another bit of proof that religion is for people who have no feeling of control over their own lives and want something to be in control of/feel power over. why do you think that the crazier the church, the poorer and dumber the congregation? my state, mississippi, is the poorest, fattest, dumbest state in the nation and we also have the most churches per capita. i'm certainly not saying that all religious people are grasping for control or calling them dumb and poor. y'all know the point i'm trying to make.

No, but each denomination believe that they are the right one. They might not act in this way but still believe they are 'better' than others, for want of a better word.

Mississippi is also one of the most Republican states. The ability of the GOP to exploit the resentments of the lower income whites who are hurt by Republican economic policies is depressing. :(

What you've just expressed is a bit reactionary and kind of sad.

Christianity - ALL of Christianity is contained in the 4 gospels of the New Testament. The lessons therein, found in the instructions given by the Christ, supercede the Old Testament and render it irrelevant. The epistles of Paul and John (Revelations) are superflous opinion and imagination and can also be discarded.

The people of this church and pretty much all churches are kept from understanding the lessons of the Christ by those unneeded sections of the Bible. Be kind to yourself and your brothers and sisters and stick to Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. Everything else just makes you weird and mean.

Romans 13:8 Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law.

Romans 13:10 Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.

Galatians 5:13-14,22 For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another. For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith.

Ephesians 2:4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us.

Ephesians 5:25 "Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it."

Hebrews 13:1 Let brotherly love continue.

1 John 3:11 For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another.

1 John 4:8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.

1 John 4:20-21 If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen? And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also.

Romans, Galatians, Ephesians and Hebrews are all unnecessary texts. The gospels are all that's needed.

Love them because they are completely deranged, or love them because you want to join them?
