I eat organic whenever its cheap, and me and my mom have a garden that we grow food in (now that its too cold, I find myself hungry a lot). I eat it because I want to be healthy... all those pesticides and shit in other foods lead to cancer (there is a reason why the US has more cancer than anywhere else), and because I don't like having zits. I also despise medicines, I don't want some antibiotics in me from runoff of some animal farm.
I like organic simply because of no chemicals. Scientist seem to change daily what is good for you and what is not. So why be the geinie pig for them. I stay safe. A nice crisp ear of corn from a organic farm is less likely to give me cancer 30 years down the road. And less not forget the bonus. It has a better taste to it
It is much better for the environment. The food costs a bit more, but it is worth it to encourage organic farming. I like to shop at farmers markets.
there was a really good thread about going organic in the environment forum sometime last year. it turns out after doing a lot of research on it, a lot of it isnt the angelic clean food we think it is. in the legal definition of organic, it still allows certain substances to be used on the crops, some fungicides i believe. anyway, i choose organic mostly becuase its supporting smaller farms and families and to me defiantly tastes better. i did a taste test of the organic coop at my school compared with store bought conventional stuff and everything tasted so muuch better organic. the grapefruits were like candy and the avocado so silky smoooth, mmm
I have been eating mostly organic for about 15 years now. Even when I was a 'poor' student I would buy organic. It's all about setting priorities. I hadn't covered this subject yet on my site, even though I find it so important. That's why a few weeks ago I finally decided to dedicate some energy to it. The result can be found here.
