what a complete weenie my body has become. jeez. can't drink, can't eat, can't sleep. this is bullshit. i need to go to "drunk, fat, smoking bootcamp" and whip this baby into proper party shape.
It's sad, yeah? But I don't really worry about it too much. If I want a greasy, slimy cheeseburger burger, I am prepared to accept the consequences. If I want to gorge myself on boneless spare ribs and lo mein, I will deal with the MSG migraine. Keeps me from doing it too often, and I think of it as a good sign.
just the typical "i really shouldn't eat that crap" response. i don't have acid reflux or anything like that, but i've been on a high fiber, low meat and accidentally low fat diet for so long that when i deviate from it, it KILLS me. my skin turns to grease and my body goes into overtime to GET IT OUT, if you know what i mean. i think you do. also, i'm alarmed to say this, but i just can't drink like i used to. i feel awful almost immediately. how am i gonna party now?
I bet it was Pizza Hut. I've had trouble with them in the past with heartburn. KC, it sounds like you are gradually becoming middle-age. .
Sounds like you should lock yourself in with nothing to eat but ham, bacon, pot roast, a few steaks and a couple cases of beer and a bottle of your fav booze. Sooner or later your body will forget all about that fiber and stuff.
Yup, that's part of it. The other part is irresponsibility on the part of restaurants, fast-food joints and food manufacturers. My pet peeve regarding this is POWDERED GARLIC, which features in nearly every case of heart burn, aka acid reflux. Just stop eating ANYTHING with powdered garlic and you won't get heartburn. Sometimes it's a combo of garlic & chocolate or something like that, that sets it off. POWDERED GARLIC is a crime! Garlic oil is very volatile and will go rancid quickly when exposed to oxygen. So when they use powdered garlic, chances are it's been sitting on a shelf for months (they sell HUGE tins of garlic powder to restaurants that lasts forever - so they think!). Once that tin is open the garlic begins to go rancid. Rancid garlic does some nasty things to your insides. I've yet to read an exhaustive study on this, but for sure it should be illegal to sell garlic this way, when it can be purchased and used fresh. So if you have heartburn regularly, rather than take a pharmaceutical pill every day for the rest of your life (as they would like you to), just cut powdered (or dehydrated or any other dry form) out of your diet and you will feel immediate relief. Now there are likely other things that cause heartburn too, but this is the main culprit... Nearly every pizza I eat out makes me sick! And BTW, if this happens to you, you can take ONE Prilosec and it should fix you up. No need to take one a day for the rest of your life...unless you refuse to cut out the powdered garlic, which appears in thousands of pre-packaged food items.
