Hey there everyone, just thought I'd make my first post in the coolest place on hip forums! ; ) and also share the beginning of my adventure with you all, and hope for some advice/feedback. Where to begin where to begin. My gf backcombed my dreads (if I can even call them that yet ) for me, it took about a week and a half of working on them just whenever we had time. They have been done for almost a month now. Don't worry, no waxes or anything were used, just backcombed and now I'm letting them do their own thing. I did have rubber bands on the ends until today, I just got done taking them out. I think that the rubber bands might have been a mistake? cause now all my ends are doing some fierce kind of trick lol. Now, for some pictures! ^ there they are when about half are done, and that have has been done for 3-4 days I believe. ^ theyre they are, a little over half done. They now rang from 2-7 daysish... (please excuse facial expressions, were just cool like that ) ^ getting some more done.. It can be a rather painful process IMO lol ^ and there they are, oldest being probably 3 weeks. I'll get one of them now ( like a day or 2 from 1 month) once they lay back down a little bit, had them pulled up for rubber band removal lol. Also I'll get a couple pictures of the different parts. But any advice or feedback would be greatly appreciated! thanks
Thanks! didn't plan to, just gonna let nature take its course Unfortunately right now I have A LOTTT of loose hairs/flyaway things so my head looks like a mess :/ I'll get a few more up close pictures here in a little bit, gonna be a challenge using mac webcam!
don't worry about the loose hairs, they'll take care of themselves, and before you know it your hair will look awesome its a good start.
Alright hah, glad to hear they are off to a good start! I try and get a few decent back pics and some closer up ones. lol alright, I'll try to get one of that too
Before I get to a few more pictures, I was told by one of my friends who went to beauty school that every 4-6 weeks I should get my roots conditioned so they don't rip/tear out? I've never read anything online that has mentioned doing this?.. lol anyways, picture time! Here they are this morning, they finally laid back down from my rubber band removal haha. Backish picture, kind of hard to get decent ones with built in webcam lol. Side and theres that for Fredlocks!
Your friend is talking bullshit, people at beauty skool generally know shit about dreadlocks, your roots will not rip and tear and you do not want to be conditioning roots so soon into dreading. I condition but I'm 26 months in.
Haha alright that's what I was thinking, I was gonna say I've yet to read an article, or talk to a "beautician" that really seemed to know their stuff... but just thought I'd double check with you guys!
thanks! gotta get the border done and then get another couple parts of some others finished, then on to the next piece!
