Hey, I want to move to BC, people keep telling me it would suite my personality better Which I totally agree with. Anyways.... If anyone does or has lived there I have a few questions -Best places to live -Things to do in those places -Places with the most jobs -Places that accept hippies more (besides tofino) -What you like about BC. Any advice/tip would be greatly appreciated.
I'm planning on moving to BC in a few short years myself. -I've heard living in Kelowna is shit, but from all of the time I've visited, it seemed like a really chill place. -Nelson is notorious for having a very high rate of hippies, artists, writers, and people with alternative lifestyles. -I love everything about BC, save for the rain on the coast after a while. The most jobs would probably be higher populated places and tourist destinatons like, Vancouver island, Victoria, Kelowna, Kamloops, Penticton etc.
Yeah I am not sure where abouts I would want to move. anywhere would be nice. give it a try at least. Oh yeah I forgot about Nelson, I'll look into it.
I moved from Grande Prairie AB when I was 18 and came straight to Vancouver with a few friends, and it's absolute heaven for me. There's everything you need, something for everyone. Beaches, Stanley Park, lots of outdoor stuff, great live music scene, lots of artsy stuff, organic stores, vegetarian restaurants, cafes, and Commercial Drive is loaded with hip shops selling cool clothes and stuff. Victoria on the Island is also, apparently, packed with hippies but a lot more slow-paced than Van, and I hear Nelson is another hippie haven but a small town. BC is *definitely* the place you want to be, my friend, have a peek online or visit and see what floats your boat!
I lived on Vancouver Island for several years. The down side to that area comes with land prices. It's hard to own ... want enough land to make a go of it? Be prepared to pay over $750,000 for 20 acres. However, if ownership isn't really your deal, there is an absolutely amazing theatre scene both in Victoria and Sooke. small, but friendly and open. My family lived in Burnaby for some time, and it was just big city. There are lots of really out of the way spots further north that are lovely, but I've never lived there.
Yeah it lookks like I am going to be moving to vancouver for school, then once school is done I will move somewhere more secluded
Nelson and Tofino are kind of cop-out answers to this. Many small communities such as Wells, Atlin, and Sandspit are all made of tight knit artist communities. Honestly, northern BC has a feel I prefer to the South.
I've been thinking of moving to BC for a while now. I'm drawn to the Island for some reason, I've been looking at Courtenay/Comox, Nanaimo and Duncan. For the mainland; Abbotsford, Chilliwack, Vernon.
the okanogan as absolutly beautiful. and some of the people there are really chill. especialy in the summer when backpackers come threw. after that i moved to the island where i live now and its amazing over here to. not like its hyped up to be though. all the teenagers are getting into that yo yo shit starting fights and listening to computer music. its not like it used to be..
Hey Everybody, the Island-and outer Islands are still really cool. I'm on Vancouver Island, but escape to Saltspring Island occasionally. My vacation this year is going to be Hornby Island. Send me an email or message if you have more questions. HUGS to All Lois
Victoria is great too and getting better all the time--come on over for a visit and I'll show you Lois
