    Hello fellow nappy headed hoes.
Well, for awhile now I think I've had scalp buildup. My head has been pretty itchy lately, and after I give a little scrath there's a white not gooey, not powdery but in betweenish gunk on my fingernails. Its not dandruff, its like dandruff glued to my head. I think it's scalp build up.

Well it is annoying. I try tell my self its no big deal, but I guess Im self conscious about it, even though no one but me can really tell.

So I know selsum blue head and shoulders is supposed to get rid of scalp buildup. I've been washing my hair about once or twice a week with baking soda and salt, or a soap bar in a pinch, and I doubt theres any residue in my hair. So since my hair is clean would the residue from head and shoulders be a big problem?
    Or is there an alternative?
    Any stories?
    Thanks!

Apple cider vinegar worked for me, my scalp was a bit goopy and weird and now it feels normal. I just poured a bit in my bathtub and squished my hair around and rinsed it.

You may want to try a rosemary soak... they work for me and I have hte same kind of gunk. The mixture amounts can be found somehwere on the forum... not quite sure where at the moment.

Also, I have taken to laying in the tub with my head in the water and scrubby my scalp. It seems the most effective.

i hate that shit. i had similar problems, and it seems to come and go :S

haha i'm so not being helpful, i've never tried anti-dandruff shampoo but I do use a variety of random shampoos in my shower (i feel by switching up shampoos they tend to remove each other's residue etc etc and makes my hair feel ungreasy). if i linger too much with just one shampoo i tend to see the dandruff type stuff pop up more regularly.
