I'm 18 years old and I work with a 26 year old who I am incredibly attracted to. Admittedly, I am a very very shy person who, even when the fact that a guy likes me smacks me in the face, I don't realize it. So here's the deal...

I flirt with him, I'm not sure what he's doing is "flirting" or being nice or whatever, buuut..he smiles at me, makes fun of me (teasingly of course), talks to me a lot, asks me about my personal life, etc..

I'm not even going to worry about the age thing here, because I think it's clear that none of you would be able to tell what he thinks about that..but for the sake of argument, let's assume that he has no issue.

Another staff member we work with always jokes around and says "Oh are you single? well so and so is not seeing anyone.." that whole shindig, and he said we should go drinking, and when I pointed out that I couldn't go drinking, (being underage) then the guy that I like chimed in with "well we could go bowling.." But he wasn't looking at me, he was looking at the other guy, so i'm not entirely sure he was serious.

I really wish you guys could see this situation for yourself because it's difficult to explain..

..what I'm asking, I guess, is how would I approach him if I wanted to ask him out for say..bowling? haha I'm horrible with this whole dating thing, I've never asked out a guy before..soo..yeahh..

    Thanks so much in advance!

    xx

8 years is not too bad. just ask him to do things(no sex, no drinking, no illegal things) with you see whether you two getting alone with each other.

nothing wrong here.... can be awk if he likes to go to bars and you can't go drinking... doesn't sound like that is the case.

you should ask him to go out and do something you like to do... walk in the park, coffee shop, bookstore, window shopping, running, etc... if he is receptive hell accept or suggest another venue.

8 years difference is no big deal, really

just started writing here, then realised mmg had just said what i was going to :D
one thing i'd say though, that no one else has, don't rush, let it come naturally, sometimes they can scared off if a girl comes across as too eager, or read the signals wrong.

"Hey, can I tell you something? I think I would enjoy your company and I would like to spend some time with you. What do you say we go bowling?"

Life is so difficult for you girls. He might dance around the offer, I probably would of...Do you want to have sex with this guy??? I'm asking without stigma, because if you do, I would be more upfront.

It's never a good idea to date just to date. Lay the guy if that's what you want. It's nobody's business, and your chances would be better, IMO.

haha, I'm not really sure my intentions, as I don't know him very well.
I've only ever seen him at work, although I wouldn't mind...Because I am human! ;)

Thanks so much for all of your answers.
    They're much appreciated. :)

I would go if I were you...hang out with him for a while, and eventually tell him you like him...the worst he could say is that he just wants to be friends. =) good luck!

Your biggest mistake was to mention age. But since you did, you're right on the mark. Guys mature (emotionally, at least) so much slower than women, that you two may be even. If not even, then you're a little ahead, but not to worry. If you like him, prove your maturity. Take the lead. Find out what he likes, then invite him to see a movie, eat a meal, go to a sport. Have an extra ticket and ask him. You may not realize it, but you have the upper hand!

I don't judge relationships by age.. You never know what could happen. I'm in a relationship now where I'm a lot older than the guy I'm dating. Which is really strange since I'm basically 22.. I'm not gonna lie, I never thought I would be in this situation. He is oddly mature for his age though. It's not something I talk about often because it's something a lot of people judge. But whatever. We work together wonderfully, so screw what people think. :)

That's not a large age difference. I say go for it . Older guys are great, in my experience. Compared to guys of the same age or younger, they (usually) really know how to treat a lady and are quite mature. That is a breath of fresh air for most ladies.

As far as asking him out goes, I strongly suggest keeping it really casual at first and inviting him to go bowling with a group of friends, or people you work with. If you really want to go out on a full blown-out date, though, just say something like, "I am not doing anything tonight and really feel like going bowling. Want to come with?" I wouldn't do that just yet though. Get comfortable with each other first in a group of friends and hang around each other a lot and make good conversation. When you ask him, try your best to just act like it's a casual question because, really, it is! Best of luck, and as always, be careful. Don't rush into anything, no matter how well things may go.
