This is a fire drill.. it that time to practice evacuation and secure fire detection devices, (know where your extinguishers are) check your batteries in smoke and CO detectors ..:)

Haha, I have to do the safety walkthroughs for new employees at my work.

"So in case of a fire, your life safety plan is to get to a window with a red dot, the fire dept can rescue you from there... But if you are above the 8th floor you're SOL cause their ladders don't go up that high.."

    Haha

I don't have any fire alarms in my house  ...

I do this at work too,.. be surprised how many people dont take fire drills seriously, The ones that sit in the office and dont participate get a "youre dead certificate"..

That's pretty funny, I guess no one tries to stay in the building, lol. But there are like 2000 people in my building, so fire drills are a big thing. I have to teach them the "life safety plan" in case anything happens. I think it's funny that your fucked if you get stuck on a high floor. Glad I'm on a saveable floor. :D

Because our building is so large fire drills take like 90 minutes at my office and once you are outside they don't care what you do. Also they conveniently schedule them to end right before breaks a lot it's like a 2 hour free for all.

I think it takes us like 30 mins to get out, and we all have a spot to go to for each floor you are on for roll call. You have to stay there. Our last one was this winter and it was freezing. I said fuck it and went and grabbed my coat and purse before I went out. It took forever to get roll call done, they did a building walkthrough and let us in. Then you have to wait for everyone to pile back in the building cause we all have to swipe our badges to get back in.

People are to sign in and out, and the daily log is to record all activities, Whether it be "i saw a squirrel" or "packages fell off loading dock" and that dont go over well either.. ;)

a fire drill wouldn't make took much sense where i work (usually only 2-6 people working at a time, and it's a small building). we did have the fire alarm erroneously go off a while back because the damn thing malfunctioned. within a couple of minutes we had a fire truck, cop car and ambulance screaming into the parking lot, all in full gear.

they said that was 1 of our 3 allotted 'false alarms' before they charge for comin' down there when there's no trouble.

but we did just recharge the fire extinguisers for the place. so that's a plus.

Fire extinguishers should be checked and recharged yearly..

I worked in an old building where they shut off the fire system 10 years ago, from that time, then they bought a big million dollar paint booth. When the fire dept came to do a walkthrough, haha they got shut down pretty much. After spending thousands of dollars on trying to get up to code, they still shut down after they got rid of me. They lost all thier business after I left, I told the whole town they fired me cause I was pregnant.

And my manager is such a douche, he is still unemployed after about 4 years of being shut down. No one will hire him :)

My kids were putting change in the side of my microwave like a change slot, then it started turning on with the door open and closed by itself.. I thought it was posessed.. We picked it up to move it and a bunch of money was in there. I guess she thought it was her piggy bank. :)

I hate you orison, j/k not really.. But we just had a fucking fire alarm and I was no where near my desk for my coat. I had to stand outside and do roll call for like 175 people in 20 deegree weather. I hate fucked up last names.. And now my throat hurts and my voice is scratchy from yelling out names.
