So I have had my dreads about a year, and they are fine I guess... Okay I like them a lot. But the ends of several of them, especially my thicker ones, are beginning to fray and loosen. Palm rolling them helps, but not permanently, and I'm not real sure how to fix them. It isn't a huge issue, but it is kinda annoying. Any help would be much appreciated. I posted a picture and you can kinda see it on some of the back dreads where it just looks like normal, straight hair on the tips. Thanks!

personally i like frayed ends but just take a crochet hook or something and suck the ends in.. ugh i suck at typing and explaining but u stick the crochet hook near the end of yer dread and stick the hook in the middle so its sticking out the end and put all the loose hair in the hook and bring it up and walla the ends ar now blunted and stuck in yer dread... sorry i suck at explaining

i say boo to sausage ends but if you really hate em you can try the crochet hook like kate suggested. they will eventually dread up if you leave them.

How does one qualify to be a dreadlock professional? Just leave them they'll dread up themselves.

wait, did you force them to become blunt and then they frayed? or they became blunt on their own and then frayed on their own? I am guessing the first one. Ask yourself why you want blunt tips. If you are sure you still want them, crochet them. Which i assume that's how they became blunt in the first place.

Well, since you asked, you have to have had dreads for at least three years to be a professional- according to myself anyway. And thank you for the advice. They've always done whatever they want, and I suppose they always will. I suspect that's the whole point of it all.

DAMN! I actually had someone ask if they could touch 'em today. I wasted an an opportunity, of course I'm not professional yet so I would have to charge a reduced rate. Dude got a freebie...

He was a member at the gym I work at and he was already asking questions and responding intelligently to my answers so I was fine with it.

I also had one chick just grab a handful and then tell me, "when I see dreadies like that I have to grab them." I should have copped a feel in return, but I was too surprised as it was the first time anyone had ever done that to me...

hairdressers are always up in my dreads "omg, whoever backcombed them is genius!"

and then i have to tell them this is what neglect dreads look like after about 2 years.

this is also how i got a date with a cute hairdresser
