They MAY grow around you- but maybe not.

My computer was destroyed in a hurricane, so I do't have any pics. But if you search the mushroom forum you should find some I've posted. You'd be looking for the same ones. also try shroomery.com for pics.

They grow individually and in groups on cow pies.
Some, but not all, will have a "purple ringer" around the stem- very distictive.
They will slowly bruise dark blue/purple on the stems and caps when they are handled or pinched. The stems bruise quicker.

Lay a fresh cap on white paper and cover with a glass. Wait two hours. Remove the glass and the cap. there will be a "spore print" on the paper. The color identifies the species. Dark blue/purple is what you are looking for.

At Mycotopia be careful. Those guys (and gals) are rabid. But if you pay attention you can learn a lot about boomers at the tope'. Also, if you have a digital camera, most of us can identify a specimen pretty well, but don't post here because I can only check these boards from a computer I can't get to very often.

Get the "Audobon Society Field Guide to North American Mushrooms" It gives you all the info you need for tons of species, psilocybe genus, paneolus genus etc....
