We saw on the news tonight what I've been seeing for several years where I live, the true face of the 21st century Republican party.

Republican representatives are on the floor of Congress being disrespectful and disorderly while their supporters are outside spitting on black congressmen and calling them "niggers;" all while Members of Congress are spreading lies on the floor of congress and refusing to cede the floor so others can speak.

They have not only made a joke of our political system, but have sold it out to commercial interests. The Republicans are the reason why our nation is in a state of failure.

Put nothing past them. Anyone that's been around long enough knows what they're capable of.

There is a real, living, breathing example of how the Republican agenda works in reality. That would be the State of Alabama. Alabama has a very low tax rate. Taxes can only be increased by a majority vote of the citizens of Alabama, who consistently refuse to pass any increases for any reason.

I live in Georgia, 1/2 mile from the Alabama state line. I watch Alabama TV, know Alabama residents and travel through Alabama frequently.

Their roads are horrible, I hate having to drive through Alabama. When you cross the Alabama state line, you know it.

Their schools are woefully underfunded. The dropout rate in Birmingham is 47.7% and around 40% statewide, which is why the income level is lower than most other states and hi tech industries locate elsewhere. Schools are using old textbooks and don't have enough of them. Teachers have to spend their personal money in many schools in order for students to have the basics, like pencils and paper. Many Alabama residents near the state line use Georgia addresses to get their children into Georgia schools, yet they vote against tax increases to improve their own schools.

School buildings are old and run down. A couple of years ago a local TV station organized a community effort to clean up the schools around the Birmingham area because the counties did not have the money to maintain their own school infrastructure.

A few fun facts about Alabama:

Anyone can buy a gun without a background check at any of the many "Gun and Knife" shows, but it's against the law to sell or buy a vibrator or any other "sex toy."

The voters keep voting down any form of gambling (lottery) that would fund education, yet thousands come to Georgia every day to buy our lottery tickets and go to Mississippi casinos. The head of the Governor's gambling task force won something like $100,000 at a Mississippi casino.

Liquor stores are owned by the state.

Arson is the preferred method of revenge. I have friends who had their house burned down twice.

Take a close look at Alabama, this is what a Republican agenda would do for the U.S.

Indeed a great day in the United States, a major positive progressive step forward for once. Cant help but love the way the conservatives are going crazy. :willy_nilly: Now its more important than ever to try and support the representatives that took the chance with their political careers to vote yes on heath care. The teabaggers will be out in force in November looking to rally the far right which will not be very hard. So please remember to vote come election time.

This is indeed a great day,to actually hear people expressing their confidence boldly instead of sitting quietly at the feet of the republicans. They have had a lock on this country for years with their war mongering ideas. Everytime someone says anything there are a bunch of questions from some limbaugh "ditto head" demanding that every assine question, they have, is answered.Obama and the democrats in congress along with million of Americans writing and calling their represenatives have taken the first step. The tide has been stopped, but we are the force here not them,we need to take the cue and stand up for what had been acomplished. The opposition have already started explaining how "now Obama is going to have to sell this to an angry populace". When infact,we, the majority of Americans are cheering this victory. The "SPITTER PARTY" are theatening every democrat with being removed from office because they voted for the good of the people. If you agree with this healthcare bill, tell your representatives and everyone else. The opposing side is rabid in their tactics,we must stand up, step out and back "our" elected officials. We need to be part of the solution, because the republicans are part of the problem.

One of them said that the American people don't want any part of it. Apparently he thinks we like getting booted off our insurance in the middle of cancer treatments. We like getting turned down for coverage because we have a chronic condition. We feel a sense of pride and sense of purpose when we get the opportunity to die for the sake of higher corporate profits.

He would probably just change the subject. People like him can't be cornered. The facts don't matter.
    :toetap05:

The current Republican Party is nothing more than a marriage of convenience between the super-rich, who know that they are too few in number to ever win an election on their own, and socially backwards rednecks who are afraid of their own shadows. It's been this way since Reagan put them together in 1980. They thought they had a perpetual political dynasty, and are having fits like spoiled brats because they aren't getting their way anymore. It can be funny at times to watch the ongoing implosion.

Sunday the Republicans were spitting on black congressmen and calling them niggers, Barney Franks was called a queer and Monday they were sending tweets calling for the assassination of President Obama.

It's time for this party of TRAITORS to be DISBANDED. I don't care how much the leadership tries to distance themselves from this outrageous behavior, they were the ones standing on the balconies whipping the crowd into a frenzy with their propaganda and outright lies. They are the leaders, they bare the responsibility.

Their behavior is totally unacceptable. Put the Republican party down NOW and get them the hell out of Washington D.C. Not one of them is decent enough to be in a leadership position. Some of them should be charged with TREASON.

They scare me, I see the way they're behaving, and I think we're one step away from lynching black people on the street again.

They're so angry, they're bitter because they no longer have power, they're not gracious at all. And for what, because more Americans are going to have health insurance? What the fuck is wrong with them?

The Hippies are beginning to retire. This means we have time to revive the Liberal activism of the 60s. We should start with a movement to put 1,000,000 heads in D.C. during the fall campaigns to support the Democrats for having the balls to pass this legislation.

    "CarPool to D.C."

The hippies did pull together a pretty big anti war demonstration or 2 in Washington. This time we've got our walking canes, false teeth and wheelchairs to fight back with. If they tear gassed a bunch of old farts they'd have the AARP up their asses along with those canes. I think we could give those tea baggers a run for their money.

You've got your own Lindsey Graham problem. Every time I see him on TV he looks drunk. I sure am embarrassed by my representatives here in Georgia. They were elected by a bunch of uneducated racists who can't understand anything past a sound bite.
