Crap argument. We are listeners and if we don't like their sound we can critiscise all we want. It's not like music that's difficult to perform automatically sounds beautiful. If I dislike Family guy I shouldn't critiscise the show before I tried making it myself?
woooooord. really man... people like yngwie malmsteen, john petrucci, steve vai, and that band that plays thrashed out versions of christmas songs are all remarkably adept musicians... but they make my ears bleed (proverbially). from what i have heard, these folks are infinitely more talented than said 'generic-poser-"rock"' band could dream of being. dif'rent strokes for dif'rent folks.
dude, i dare you to try to play this toby keith song... it's fucking hard! that must mean he's kickass! :\
Right, comparing Amy Lee to Toby Keith just proves that they don't know what they are talking about. They have probably only heard Bring Me To Life and My Immortal anyways...
Ahh yes - but then you try and match her in the vocal department ..... the can be sung but the songs aren't as straight forward as, say - CCR. I put CCR in the easy to sing basket and Evanesence in the other.
Umm... the piano is very difficult. Print off one of her ballads and try to play it... the choral arrangements are not basic, same as the string arrangements. There is a lot more to this band than you guys give them credit for. Anyways, enough with this... Fans, did you know Questlove of the Roots is drumming on parts of their new album?
I'm not trying to rain on your parade or anything but https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l7PaRU_dTNo"]YouTube- Evanescene - My Immortal objectively, if you think that is technically complex and difficult piano playing, then it's really time to broaden your horizons.
I knew you were going to choose that song. Did you know that My Immortal was written when Amy Lee was 13? They never even wanted it on the first album but the record company insisted. Try listening to Lithium, The Last Song I'm Wasting On You, Together Again, or any song on The Open Door. The piano is always present, even in their harder songs. Watch All That I'm Living For acoustic aol sessions. Listen to her piano and organ skills in Your Star. Amy Lee is quite the harp player as well. It will also be a an instrument of focus on the new album. Anyways, as I was saying before. Questlove of the Roots will be a guest drummer on their new album, which is going to be very beat oriented. They are using all kinds of drums, mainly japenese drums which I forgot the name for. I also saw on Amy Lee's tweetvideos a small clip of them recording their stomps for a song.. There is also a small clip of her recording a piano part.
Why this talk about how hard it is to play when it's all about how fun it is to listen to. You won't persuade anyone with that approach.
