Today is the day we celebrate the birthday of Lord Ram (at 12 pm!). Who's name is powerful and who's voice is sweet. Who is virtuous and kind and who's story is both beautiful and exciting. I hope you all have a pleasant day. Jai Sri Ram! "Hare Ram. My Soul calling my Soul. Come look in the mirror...What do you see? Who is there? Who smiles out to you from the darkness? Whose arms open in love and draw you in? Quick! Find a cloth and clean that mirror so you can see more clearly. Ram Ram. Wipe that mirror clean so you can see the face shining there. Ram Ram. Wait! The mirror is a lake that has no ripples on the surface. That's why you thought it was solid. Jump in! Dive in! Fall in! Take off your clothes of separateness and swim in that lake. Feel your body flowing with the water. Dissolve and lose yourself. What is the water? What is 'me'? Who cares! Ram Ram! 'Hare' means sustainer and protector of life. Sita and Rama, are the queen and king of the universe, the earth and the sky, the individual reflection of the One and the One itself, the dual aspects of our one Spirit."- Krishna Das Hare Raama Raama Raama Seetaaraama Raama Raama Raama Raama Seetaaraama, Raama Raama Seetaaraama Seetaaraama Seetaaraama Raama Raama Seetaaraama Shree Ram Jai Raam Jai Jai Raam Jai Seetaaraam, Jai Jai Hanumaan Jai Seeyaaraam, Jai Baaba Hanumaan Seetaaraam Seetaraam Shri Ram Jai Ram Jai Jai Ram is the song/mantra that Hanuman is always singing. Rama is the name that Maharaj-ji [Neem Karoli Babaji] always had on his lips. It is the mantra that purifies the heart and bestows devotion to God. Tulsi Das says that the name of God is greater than God. He writes in the Ramacharitamanas: "I bow to the Name of Rama... which is unqualified, peerless and a mine of virtues and is the vital breath of the Vedas. The sound of the name of Rama is a beautiful ornament for the ears of the fair damsel in the form of Bhakti (Devotion)... It is like the taste and the gratifiying quality of nectar in the form of emancipation... It is like the bee for the beautiful lotus of the devotee's mind... Install the luminous gem in the shape of the divine name of 'Rama' on the threshold of the tongue at the doorway of your mouth, if you will have light both inside and out..." In the Ramayana it is told how "Shri Ram collected an army of bears and monkeys and took no little pains over the construction of a bridge [so that his army could cross the ocean to Lanka], but through the repetition of the Name, the ocean of mundane existence itself gets dried up..." - Krishna Das One of my favourite Bollywood songs (that is cute and about Lord Ram!): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hVCQh0a6qlQ Also....thanks to my friend...you can watch the Ramayana (old India TV show version) on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/profile_videos?user=NeoRamayan&page=7 or treat yourself to the cartoon version called "The Prince of Light" (which is dubbed in english so no subtitles): http://www.peekvid.com/feature/movies/1187/The-Ramayana-(animated).html Happy Ram Navami!
