hair won't always form one giant dread naturally. some people end up with really skinny dreads and have no congos, even though they don't rip their dreads apart. the dreads at the back of my head never want to congo.

its going to eventually form together into one dread because you shed hair and it has to grow back and it doesn't always grow back into the same dread it came from

Ironically, I keep getting laughed at by black guys who just KNOW that their skin color makes them a definitive authority on dreadlocks, giggling about that white boy trying to "put" dreads in his hair. And I'm neglecting.

So please don't use that phrase, it could bring out some strangling tendencies in me :p

c'mon, folks! we all have dreads! they're all unique and beautiful in their own way!!

stop all the bickering over details, and let's just appreciate each other (and our dreadlocks) for being unique. No one's dreads or dread method is superior to any other. Neglect, backcomb, twist n rip, crochet....they're all different and you get different results, but IT'S ALL GOOD! :) :)

um yeah i've had experience with a set of dreads wanting to grow together that set was a year and a half old before the ones i have now

you don't even have mature dreads from your neglect method yet

i've been saying its all the same but apparently people are stuck up about going neglect all i want is for enayes to ask people if they are interested in the neglect method before instantly saying they will regret not going neglect.

Yeah seriously its getting stupid, and pissing people off. I would take the advice from someone who actually has neglected mature dreads not 2 month old restarted neglected dreads. Even the first set only lasted 5 months or so, when you have amazing 3 year old neglect dreads dude, then give all the suggestions you like. I seriously have to agree with DS on this.

so i backcombed my dreads and a lot of dreaded people who have seen them actually assume i've gone neglect just because of how they look.

so some methods can, depending on hair type blah blah blah, look like other methods.

we all have dreads. they all look different. end of story.

I haven't been trying to force people to go neglect. I just feel that it should be the first method you consider. Because once you use another method, you can't go back.

There are MANY people in this forum that have said they wish they went the natural route, THEY have said they regretted it. I am not saying that other people will, just that it's a possibility. If you guys truly believe that all methods deserve to be considered, then it only makes sense that natural should come first.

to consider something doesn't mean you have to do it

so why not ask if they are interested first before saying try this

lmao didn't expect so many posts XD at any rate, when I go natural it doesn't work my hair refuses to dread on its own so I have to use the twist and rip method!
