Rastafarians aren't usually considered Christians but I think they technically are because they believed Haile Selassie to be Christ. People like Bob Marley were sure that Selassie was God incarnate and that he was the fulfillment of Biblical scriptures. My question to all of the Christians here is this: How do you know that Selassie was not Christ? Also how will you know when Christ comes again?
If Haile Selassie was the Christ returned what purpose did he serve? In any case, the Christ is not to return as a human.
Rastafarians do not, and never did, consider Haile Selassie to be Christ. They are believers of the Old Testament, not the New.
I know Bob Marley doesn't speak for all Rastafarians but he referred to Selassie as "Christ come in a new name."
Christ is not a personality, it is a title (like Caesar or President), so whatever fits that title is the next Christ.
There will never be a new Christ like we would think.. Easy enough, why would the Vatican church accept someone like that? Cause he will criticize their church like he criticized his own religious leaders. Now, as far Selassie, thought is is a direct descendant of Menelik1 , first born of King Salomo and the queen of Sheba. He can be seen as Christ by many black people. For some he was a dictator and a monster, for others a righteous emperor. Can you blame black people on a little island seeing him as christ ? He was the first black leader 'representing' his race in the UN. Wether he is Christ or not, he's been help to many people, even in thought only that's enough
