What a shallow way to look at what MLK did for this country. If not for him we may still be looking at blacks as smiling, watermelon and fried chicken eating servants. Blacks are God created individuals just like caucasion & hispanic and oriental peoples. Some good, some bad, some kind, some cruel. They are people as are we all. What kind of dark spirit makes people believe that one race is evil and another good - I'm from Mississippi and I know - the spirit of evil and hate and intolerance.
i'm in colorado from california and i know the spirit of it, too. people just wanna think they're better than anyone else.
Dude, you are the coolest, and most sympatheitc poster (to my insanity, and relative weirdness) on this forum. I don't mean to be disrespecful, or overtly oppose you, but on the topic of your post 9which I can feel in my bones had some sarcastic underpinnings), I digress. Dr. king was a great man, not only for African AMericans, but for the whole human race. Asa main white advocate of the black man, and racial harmony and human unity, I'd have to say that it may be in poor taste mocking a man, who essentially gave his life to free the black man from chains.
We, as AMericans, should be forever indebtted to peacemakers and beutiful humanists such as DR. King. PEACE P.S. -If your post was serious, than much apologies for my afformentioned remarks. Just a thought.
I was deadly serious about everything I said in my post. It seems where ever you live there is a group of people that are "of lower moral and ethical standards than ourselves. People are people - good, bad, indifferent. I suppose it makes some people believe that they are superior to the niggars, chinks, spicks, krauts, gooks and polacks. The bad thing is, in 1965 I believed all that crap. Thank you 1960's and 70's.
why do they give the cumombacks the day off, when they have to collect twice the trash the next day.. .. MLK day= more work for cumombacks the following day...
It’s much more dramatic when I talk with someone over the phone then meet with them for the first time in person. Hotwater
Ahh...a true older hippie... The term 'OG' on the streets means 'Original Gangster or Gangsta'.... So I guess you would be a 'OH' 'Original Hippie'.... I relate to first generation of hippies and flower children much better.... The ones who the backs of civil rights literaly rested on... I think who you all were back then was better defined....now I think the term Hippie is just a brand name...something to be marketed... some of the newer hippies now are quite a mixed bag....and some remind me more of colorfully dressed skin heads... It really is a mixed bag now... I think racism is coming back now...and in some of the younger circles I think it's actually becoming quite trendy to be a ,sophisticated racist'.... The Original hippies defined themselve by the civil rights demonstrations they participated in next to A-Americans or Mexicans or even space aliens... I think todays hippies define themselves more in 'How cute can I look in this outfit'....again...like a brand name or product... As a person of color, 40 years ago, I would of felt right at home crashing a hippie party or commune...today, I would not.... I feel as if a lot of hippies today, say the right things, only when it matters, to gain points of sort...but once the tv cameras shut off, and the reporters go away...I don't really recognize them... it's hard to replicate an original movement born of true blood shed and tears, and a near spontanious revolution....I mean the original hippies parents were hard core segregationist...some were probably in the Klan or other such groups...and for their kids to suddenly break away and want to stand up for 'minorities'...really took guts back them, and I'm sure strained many family relations perminatly.... for Hippies, the risks were real back then...I mean watch 'Easy Rider'.... That cannot be replicated. It's not something you can fake... I imagine back then some did the drugs to hide the pain....today it's done...well, just to do it... But of course everything always looks more noble when 40-50 years removed... But I do remember hippies back then would loose thier lives for walking hand in hand with a black person at a protest...The Klan and other hate groups just did not care...and many were cops... You really had to have courage to be a hippie back then, expecially if you lived in rural areas... If you had long hair you were called gay, and could be beat up by tough country boys... What has todays hippies gone through to earn that badge?
