How to Train Your Dragon Movie Blurb by Shale March 27, 2010 There weren't any pressing movies to see this weekend, so I elected to see this light PG rated kids flick just to relax after spending a glorious cool, clear-blue-sky day at the beach. This movie is in 3-D but the theater nearest the beach only had it in 2-D so that's how I saw it. Again, let me say that I think 3-D is an unnecessary gimmick and a good visual movie like Avatar and this one works just as well on a flat screen. And, it was visual. I go to these computer-animated movies for the art more than for the simple cute stories and as in Ratatouille I was quite pleased with the effects. The story takes place in an ancient Viking village that has been warring with dragons for ages. The whole tribe lives to kill dragons. OK, artistic license here; the Vikings are wearing their trademark hats with horns (they didn't) and they speak with some sort of Scottish brogue. Gobber the Belch & Stoick the Vast All the Vikings are big and brusque, except for Hiccup, Chief Stoick the Vast's son who likes to study things more than just bash them. (Hmm, I can relate to the little nerd kid). So, he devises a way to capture one of the most dangerous dragons, a Night Fury, which has never been seen - only the destruction they leave behind. Because Hiccup is such a thinker and planner he is bit of a disgrace to his father and laughing stock of the other kids, even the cute girl Astrid in the dragon killing class. Astrid and Classmates Hiccup manages to bring down a Night Fury but when he tries to kill it he can't because it looked at him with those sad round cat eyes. So he releases it and the two find a symbiotic relationship. A Boy & His Dragon (or A Dragon & His Boy) Hiccup discovers that dragons don't have to be killed but can become your friend. Of course this doesn't go well with dad and the tribe, who can grapple with anything but a paradigm shift. Astrid discovers Hiccup's dragon but you know that they are destined to become friends. Astrid & Hiccup But, there's more to this story, such as the big Viking vs Dragon battle scene and plenty of CGI action before all ends well. I think kids will enjoy this movie as well as parents. This grandparent sure did
Nice work man, i felt like i was reading a short story here. Most people would just post: How to Train Your Dragon -"it was a good movie". I want to see it now. Thanx. And Ratatouille was a good movie also.
Shale I really like reading your reviews. I can't wait to see this one especially since I like Shrek. If you see Hot Tub Time Machine please review. I saw that this weekend, it was hilarious!
I heard it was funny and it got OK reviews locally - but somehow didn't interest me. Of course I would write about if I saw it - but why don't you write something? My first movie priority this coming weekend is Clash of the Titans remake.
good job..you've done it well it inspire me to watch that movie...i wish that you post more story like that... ________________________________ Transparent Coupon Code
I just saw it today, and it was great! @reese0117 -Thanks to your spoiler, i wasn't as shocked as i would have been. But i think you shouldn't give out too much information about movies people havn't seen yet.
Good Point - and I corrected it for future readers. Even movies that have been out for a while may be new to someone who is just getting around to seeing it - so the SPOILER SPACE or SPOILER WARNING should be inserted where information may ruin someone's enjoyment of the surprise element. I even tried to be vague in my original blurb as to "the big Viking vs Dragon battle scene," which you now know the outcome.
