I know this has been done before. I want a perfectly tailored set of recommendations though... My media collection has been a bit dry lately. I need new things. Interests to go off... Music Nas (Illmatic) Biggie (Ready To Die) Death Cab (Plans, Narrow Stairs) Neil Young Jimi Hendrix Led Zeppelin Jack Johnson Bob Marley Ben Harper Lil Wayne Pink Floyd Movies Donnie Darko Little Miss Sunshine Into The Wild City of God Kubrick (The Shining, Clockwork Orange, 2001) Wes Anderson (Darjeeling Limited, The Life Aquatic) The Wackness Podcasts Psychedelic Salon Radio Lab Mysterious Universe Zencast Basically stuff like that. I'm pretty openminded. Godspeed!
Check out Devendra Banhart. He's a trippy motherfucker: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4lSSgzVc-Ts"]YouTube- Devendra Banhart - Lazy Butterfly https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cig2Ep-4udg&feature=related"]YouTube- Devendra Banhart - Sight to Behold (Jools Holland) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4jUm7OD9ZBw&feature=related"]YouTube- Devendra Banhart / Cripple Crow
Yeah, I know Devendra. I came really close to going to one of his concerts a few months back. Kinda regret not doing that. I don't know if you read Rolling Stone but there was a really good article on him in there a while back..
Nah I don't read RS. I've only recently discovered Devendra, after my girl recorded a cover of Lazy Butterfly and posted it on youtube. lol
You may like T-Rock, since you apparently like some rap: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mvDNqAY8gx4"]YouTube- T-rock- Mary Jane https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ukSeqK90VRE&feature=related"]YouTube- So High - T ROCK
Damn. He's impressive sounding. I'll have to look up some lyrics before I can judge him though. He's a good rapper. I demand at least semi-decent lyrics though.
This is a super amazing song. You have to listen really loudly in headphones though. That's important. http://www.archive.org/download/ryanadams2009-03-20.dpa4023matrix/ryanadams2009-03-20d2t11_vbr.mp3 Jamie Kilstein is the worlds coolest guy (maybe not, but he must in at least the top fifteen). Just go to this link and then go to the 'Jamie Kilstein' list in the sidebar part. http://www.indiefeedpp.libsyn.com/ Taylor Mali (From that site too) is legit as hell.

listen to ott its the best chillout stoner music ever then look up shpongle, pretty lights, bassnectar, sts9, beck
Yea I second Ott. Check out Times New Viking and Psychedelic Horseshit. A couple ambitious young bands keeping rock alive! Also check out Gang Gang Dance, particularly the Saint Dymphonia album. The ritualistic noise rock group does electronic music, and SO FUCKING WELL. House Jam is an improvised House song that they actually play live (albeit with controller and shit, still), Also Princes is a really good song from that album featuring a grime artist. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ls2rqAPTDWc"]YouTube- Gang Gang Dance Ft Tinchy Stryder - Princes
these are the same music recommendations i always make, but we seem to have similar musical taste, so... pinback https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UFMYeCMK4IY"]YouTube- Pinback - Non photo blue silversun pickups https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DmE57YE3pSc"]YouTube- Silversun Pickups - Well Thought Out Twinkles 311 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9G9-pHd9CyQ&feature=related"]YouTube- 311 - Offbeat Bare Ass ^^^they are really diverse. they have heavy rap/rock songs, and beautiful, melodic love songs.
I second Explosions in the Sky, the drummer is from my city. They are off the chain with elaborate guitar driven soundscapes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xbe8RKfaIjU"]YouTube- Explosions In The Sky - Six Days At The Bottom Of The Ocean
I was going to recommend silversun pickups but I figured you would be here sooner or later. Yah I'm a psy head or at least like the twisted label: Like people mentioned shpongle and ott are good, if you like that music also check: Younger brother shulman entheogenic the infinity project Celtic cross abakus bluetech
SModcast! Plug some of your bands into Pandora, it'll give you some new stuff Same with Netflix and movies (if you feel like paying for it. It's quite worth it if you dig movies)
Listen to some Rehab: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=156eQaMHaMA"]YouTube- Rehab - Scarecrow https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nzw3IzWm254"]YouTube- Rehab~Red Water
Don't know if I can dig the Pinback or 311 all that much. I did like Silversun a bit. I might look into them more if I get a chance. I've never been able to get into that electronic music. Shpongle was alright. Ott wasn't bad either. Explosions In The Sky wasn't bad.
