There was an election in the Ukraine a few days back and it appears to have been won by the right-wing candidate due to voter fraud. Numerous foreign observers were on hand, and they claim that there were a number of irregularities. Ironically, even America's special envoy to the Ukraine claims that there was voter fraud involved. Now there are large protest rallies being held, and there is some speculation that this whole situation may degenerate into violence, possibly civil war.
For the time being protests are peaceful and the police are holding back, but with international observers claim that there was fraud, and the U.S. government issuing a strongly-worded statement saying that there was fraud, this is not going to go away soon, I think. Obviously the U.S. favoured the loser, as he is pro-West, while the winner is Putin's lapdog.
