So I've tried 5-meo-dmt several times now, and I'm afraid to say it's not all that it's cracked up to be. Of course, everyone's experiences are different, and maybe I'm just one of those who will never experience the mind warping trips that others have reported with this drug. According to erowid, a 'strong' does of 5-meo-dmt is between 10-20mg smoked, and the most I've ever done was 14mg, so although I certainly could go higher, I have made my way into the 'strong' region of the experience. My experience is that the drug emerses you in a light-headed kinda spacey feeling, with an especial acuteness for depth perception, but nothing like the "traveling through the cosmos" that others have reported (which I'm equating with something like an OOB experience). The feeling gets more intense with higher doses, of course, and so does the nausea, but "traveling through the cosmos" would not be my first choice of words to describe it. On the other hand, there is possibly a loose connection between the hightened perception of depth and the reason why some report the experience in this way. I notice, especially on high doses, that things that are close seem really close and things that are far seem really far. I can imagine that on a clear night when the stars are especially visible, one could get a profound sense of how deep and vast the universe is by toking up a lung full of 5-meo-dmt and then star gaze. The hightened depth perception while looking at the stars would certainly feel as though your consciousness were 'expanding' into the cosmos, or least becoming more aware of how vast and extensive it is. Perhaps this has been metaphorically hyped up as "traveling through the cosmos". In any case, though I have not experienced anything like what others have reported (not in a literal sense), I have taken much of value from this drug. In fact, once we get well into the summer, I would like to toke up a jacked up dose (something over 15mg) and do exactly what I described above: star gaze on a clear night. I'm sure it would be quite the experience (and god dam the nausea! ) But I should ask before closing on this note: of those who (think they) have experienced traveling through the cosmos on 5-meo-dmt, what was the dose at which this happened and how was it consumed? I'm just wondering if a higher dose than 14mg would do it or if a different method of consumption would. Maybe I should just try it myself, but at this point, I'm satisfied that it wouldn't do anything that I haven't already experienced.
its not my favorite chemical by far, but its strong. i smoked it once for a while and i started to see people by their egos and the way the acted, nothing else. it was weird. also after doing it several days in a row i started feeling a little wacky in the head haha. no bueno
I traveled through this past Sunday with a newbie to psychedelics. I eyeballed him about 10mg and 25mg for myself and we toked up. Me:: I take my hit and instantly feel it in my head. I sit back and relax and w/in 15 seconds you feel like you got hit with a N02 on steroids. You get the upset stomach, and I know that if I haven't eated recently I won't get sick, so I just think past it and it goes away faster. I close my eyes and get shot from a cannon into hyperspacetastic CEV hallucinations. This trip was different cause the dude kept talking through the whole trip and I couldn't just loose myself into the music and visuals. But still very enjoyable. I do seem to think to myself after I hit it the first time again,, man what did I just do,, oh here we go again.. He instantly called his wife after he came down and told her how much he loved her and said when he gets home he was going to pick her and the kids up to go out and do something together. He cherished his life more then ever after that trip. Which made me feel good, cause he never did before. He had more respect for himself and his family along with what we taught him about being more respectful for his plants. So all in all it was very positive.
...load the pipe, smoke as much as you physically can. if you don't do that you're not doing it right IMO.
If you're really that unsatisfied with the effects of 5-meo maybe you should smoke some n,n. n,n is stunningly visual. It is revelation.
Well, everybody's telling me to increase the dosage. Maybe. Maybe not. What I really want to know from these guys is whether you've actually experienced anything like "traveling through the cosmos" and at what dosage did this happen? (and how nausiated did you feel?)
Hhm... well someone told me that the trick is to vaporize it rather than ignite it. He says to hold the lighter a little aove the bowl so that the 5-meo-dmt is not directly in the flame. He says that if one does it this way, they can get that "cosmic voyage" experience off as little as 7mg. I'll try that first (25mg seems like a lot - and dangerous).
25mg is not dangerous imo. My first time trying it I had an outer body experience and was out for about 10 minutes. When I came to, a few mins later, I felt sick and eventually puked. I have never had that experience again though. And I have not puked since then, even on 25mg+ doses. That's why I believe to do it right the first time to get the best experience.

i've never "traveled through the cosmos" but i've dosed people with it who have...i experience quite the opposite of that actually...just quite literal ego death followed by rebirth and introspection.
