Why are cities across America shortening the lengths of yellow lights? One guess people, one guess. Hint: red light camera revenue http://www.alternet.org/rights/145752/cities_shortening_yellow_traffic_lights_for_deadly_profit/ My city is getting $275 million federal stimulus dollars to purchase 350 more speed cameras. Councilman says the new cameras will create jobs. http://ktar.com/?nid=6&sid=1112673
this is going on where I live and people are getting pissed. The lights turn yellow then red insanely fast, too quick to allow time to stop unless you literally slam on your breaks. just another way to make money. We're also getting a lot of speed cameras here, people have been vandalizing them though, lol.
Yeah, it will create more mail carriers delivering all of the lame tickets. There is a city north of me that is infested with traffic cameras. One day I was stuck in traffic and counted 173 of them in roughly a 4 mile stretch. They also have dui poaching police, as well.
@guy Running out of money? More taxes? Hold on a second... Seems my cigarettes are going up another dollar a pack. Anyway, what were we talking about again..
I have noticed that if you press remote control buttons at a video camera it blinks. not blindingly though.
dude you rock haha when i lived in AZ i swear the yellow lights in Maricopa County are the shortest ones i have ever seen especially in Gilbert. i used to live by a really busy intersection and i could hear at least two car crashes a week and i would always see people getting flashed for trying to go thru only for the two second yellow to turn red. its ridiculous
In Arizona, anything on your car used to prevent photo radar pictures may be illegal now. There was going to be a vote on it, but i didn't hear if it happened yet. There is a law that requires the plate to be clearly legible from all angles currently in effect.
glad to see there are practical protesters out there------its backfireing in Chicago--the fines are so high everybody is taking community service instead of paying--there is talk of eliminating them as it costs 100,000 a month to operate all the cameras in the city
I live in Phoenix, and I last I heard AZ had the highest rate of running red lights in the Country. And as far as the cameras....I hate when I am on I-17 at night and they flash someone, it's very distracting. Eventually the locals learn where they are and speed anyway.
