It was a translation of a book, and a rather shitty translation at that.

Indeed, but a book of shitty translations is still a book.

No, he's just saying that it was translated poorly.

The King James is probably the lowest in quality of all the English translations of the Bible that you can buy.

    That's just silly.

I am constantly roped into religious debates by christians attacking my views. You might appear to go on a bit if you're forced into the defensive all fucking day long.

In fact, this exchange is exactly what I'm talking about.

OP: grow the fuck up, it's a piece of paper, there's nothing holy, blessed, or otherwise special about it. It was silly to burn it, and it's sillier to worry about it.

Book burning may have been an effective way to suppress ideas a couple hundred years ago. But I have $20 says a modern factory can print & bind 'em faster than you can burn 'em. Then there's the e-copies...what will you do about them? Sisyphus had an easy job.

How is that boasting  it was just a bit of a blanket statement to say that everyone was brought up with the heaven/hell afterlife theory.

    :cheers2:

I was talking to OP - about OP. Not using 'you' pejoratively.
