Ive got acid behind my desk in a plastic container on the floor, i know that heat rises but is that enough? how long would that preserve it? ive got quite a bit so im just wondering how long will it last and also is there a way to preserve it forever?
Just keep it in a cool dark place, a film container actually works great if you have one since they're airtight.
Suspended in water, Kept Light-tight, Kept Air-tight, and kept very cool it can be expected to survive indefinitely.
Ive put all ideas together and i came up with a freezer bag with icepackinside covered in plastic bag and a film canister with it, its dark, cold, air tight, WOOO ! good game
Icepack? Make sure you dont get condensation in there! It is melb winter now, it will be fine in a dark place
Yay, a problem worth having! I'm going with wrapped in foil, inside a ziplock baggie for airtightness inside a locked box for security (my cat was eyeing my stash recently..) How cool is cool? The box stays in a drawer.. Is refrigeration required/recommended? I'm mainly afraid of condensation, will that damage my precious paper tabs?
I haven't really tried to preserve acid before because I've usually just taken the hits before they started to degrade, so I didn't have this problem! However, I have stored LSA in the fridge before, and I've figured out that if I leave an acidic lime extraction or whatever in the freezer and in an airtight/lighttight water bottle, it definately keeps its potency compared to the ones I've done that don't meet that criteria. Since LSA and LSD are similar that way, I'm assuming the freezer would be a very good direction to go in!
Refrigeration is overkill, unless you're going to be storing it for years. The way you stored it is great. As I said earlier, I used a combination of a film canister, foil and plastic bags, and I have it all stored in a dark metal cabinet. There's even a bottle of Sandoz from 1951 that was opened on 2006 that was found to have no degradation despite being in someone's attic under varying temperatures. I guess one would say this is more of an extreme case, but the truth is that acid's sensitivity is still greatly exaggerated. There's a difference between cool and cold. For people that have their own fridge and have found success storing it that way, that's great, but for people that don't have access to a fridge, your storage methods aren't less legitimate.
