I used triangle shaped picks so I didnt have to worry about only using the one point of a teardrop shape to pick with. While i play i constantly turn the pick over and over so I dont get wear on just one side. That said, tortex picks wear out so fast, even when I would turn or adjust them. Im not a shredder or heavy handed but I have had them literally rip in half during gigs and catch on my strings nearly breaking them. So I dont just see wear on one side, its all over the dunlops so bad that I went to a different pick. And no matter how they wear, they sound like every other cheap pick. I didnt realize till I had nicer ones - its a subtle change but noticeable give em a try sometime, its a world of difference!
Yeah the triangle shape was the first ones I tried... too big, never liked em. Also the shark fin ones... never liked em. It's really just a Personal preference. I've tried most of the pics out there... I play with an extremely saturated overdrive tone, so the pick material contributes only a negligible amount to the overall sound. I just need a pick with the right stiffness that feels good and doesn't cost too much. I tend to lose picks more often than I wear them out! Also, needing a special pick can leave you high and dry if for some reason you are without. I can buy a standard shape tortex pick at just about any music shop in the country. ZW
Yes.A worker in guitar center gave me a packet of turqoise ones and i love them, really good picks not as plasticy as the fender ones i played with. God life is good. lol
Yo man, you should check out the book Zen guitar..they say you must learn to be humble and empty your cup, say you know nothing.. for the process of learning is continuous.. there is no time frame for mastery
