ego death ???

lemme give my definition, these people are no longer directed by the outside world. when you mock them they don't feel pain (or not a distracting amount). when they best you they don't feel glee (or not a distracting amount). it's all standard. they simply are, they exist, they are here for whatever reason they are here, a reason i'm sure all of them know, and will vary from man to man. gods amongst mice. legends.

 

i am too grinners, so far i dont seem to be getting any information from this thread that makes sense to me. i dont know what is being discussed here, outside of you what else is there? a god? a soul? im just trying to understand why a ego death is such a common theme here, because ive taken acid and ive never felt anything like these replies. i mean i realize there is a 'thing' in reality but, i dont feel like that should makes my sense of self unimportant, or ever more dramatic, something which should die lol

The witness of you comes from other heads as well. You have no memory of your birth, it is a story told to you about you. None of it is actual source information.

 

so my mom told me i was born from her, and i see that billions of babys are born from their moms, i should not assume that what i see is real because i cant remember how i was born??
see, i follow everyone here on the sameness, other people witness me and i witness them, but if i shoot someone and they die does that mean i shot myself even though i will live another day to continue doing whatever it is that i do?

 

Here is the way I perceive it. I am personally unaware of a time when I was not.
If you shoot someone your life will not continue as it was, you will have new contingencies to deal with.

Experiencing ego dissolution,which is a more accurate term, does not turn a person into a saint or demigod.
I personaly think it is more a function of the nervous system rather than some mystical spiritual experience. It may manifest enmotionaly as such to the experiencer, but it is still soley based on bio-chemical functions.

The I am you call yourself is the same I am I call myself, there is nothing uncommon to man.

 

The problem with discussing this phenomenon and many others relating the effects of psychedelics is you are wanting us to put into concrete words that you can easily comprehend that which quite literally defies definition.
It is like describing "red" to someone blind from birth. You can give them all the scientific data available about light and the wavelength in the red part of the spectrum, but until that person SEES the color red, it is at best a weak approximation and will never convey the totality of the experience.

You are not going to get the answer you seek. It can't be taught, it can only be experienced.
I honestly think this phenomenon is very overrated, and mistakenly set as a goal for many taking these substances. Often the active seeking of it will render the experience out of reach.

The only further suggestion I would have is increase dosage. Like I said the experience we all refer to as ego-death is pretty much a predictable effect of a high dose, 250-300 mics minimum, of LSD. If taken in the proper setting, safe, secure, no interruptions,etc. ego-death experience is almost ensured. And no, you won't die or be crazy, it Can be a scary experience, but going through it past your fears is key.

Beyond that there really is no way to communicate to you what the experience is like. It literally takes place at a level of consciousness that completely transcends language. Any attempts you see from myself and others to describe it is tantamount to eating soup with a fork, you can get a vague notion of the flavor, but it won't satisfy, grab a big spoon and dive in,

Self can only be identified by self. How could you possibly observe the absence of the ego in another. Simply in the process of observing him you are creating an ego for him. Defining his dimensions through physical observation. The ego in it's simplest form is body identification.
