Looks like this is going to be an alright week after all...

Has anyone else had anything sweet happen to them lately?

Wow, Vinyl. I remember those. Want my original copy of Pink Floyd The Wall? I also have about another 100 records just sitting around in my basement. Jethro Tull, Beatles all that good stuff. Michigan is not far from Chicago. Price is cheep. Smoke me up.

Yeah, I'd probably be interested. Send me a PM if you want to try and work something out.

Nah, not for this album. Neil Young is super stingy about his records, and they only did one release of this album. It's worth quite a bit on vinyl: http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B0012N8W0E/ref=dp_olp_used?ie=UTF8&qid=1270791510&sr=8-7&condition=used"]http://www.amazon.com/Beach-Neil-Young/dp/B0012N8W0E/ref=sr_1_7/179-4751908-6318805?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1270791510&sr=8-7

Vinyl fucking rocks! I have Neil Young's Decade album, and also his Journey through the Past album, which I believe is kinda rare. I've been collecting vinyl for the last couple years... it's really fun to go to a record store looking around for stuff you don't have.

Let me pull the collection out and see what I have then I will let you know. I have already had a couple of PMs about my vinyl from other stoners. Funny. I am glad to see some of the younger generation interested in vinyl. I personally prefer my digital copies but I do understand the beter quality of the sound from a record. I still have my Fisher Rack Stero System with a great record player. Shit, I think I have Men at Work, Asia and some other 80's bands as well. I got all of my 70's stuff from my sisters. Bruce Springstein, Hair Soundtrack bunch of stuff like that.

How close are you to Chicago? Or should I say, holding up my hand, where do you live?

I have Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young's Deja-Vu! It's on my wall, and no body better touch it except for when we're playing it!

Yeah man. I'm just now getting into the vinyl thing. It's a pretty interesting field.

Haha. If you don't want that record player anymore, I need to find one of those too. I haven't had a chance to get around to many thrift stores/antique places lately.

I live up by Lansing. So in other words, not very close at all :/. I'm going to try and take a trip down there at some point, though that likely won't be for a while, seeing as I'm just a poor high school kid for the time being.

I'm sure we can work something out though.

I might be willing to make an entire deal of it. The record player is part of my rack system so you would have to buy that all and I would just throw in the records. The only reason I would have to sell it and not just give it to you is I did pay some money on it a couple of years ago to replace the amp. It's in good condidtion and has great 150w speakers with 14" woofers. I never blasted it so they are in good shape. I only use it to play music at parties as of late because I use my computer speakers now for music. Let me know.

Well, if you give me a price and possibly some pictures, I could very well be interested.

If you use it for parties though, I don't want to take it. I'd only want to buy your stuff if you didn't have any need for it anymore, and were looking for a new & better home for it.

I always thought then Vinyls from before would be alot more pricey than that. Do the prices vary on whos music its on?

Yeah. It really depends, because a lot of it is people collecting the records, rather than just buying them for the music. So the more vinyls of more popular artists that have records that are rarer and harder to find are going to cost a lot more than never-heard of groups and such.

Well, I would not want much for the whole thing. Something along the lines of $175.00. Tuner, Duel Cassete Deck, Linear Tracking Turntable with diamond tip, Amp, 8 Channel Equalizer and Two speakers. Hell, I will throw in another 2 speakers from another system I used to have and the Display Stand / Case as well. It's on wheels so not to bad. So, if you did come down to get it you would need to have a big enough car to hold it all. Like I said I will also throw in my records for free as long as you smoke me up.

It's a Fisher Studio Standard Series I got back in the late 80's as a Christmass present from my parents. It's old but works really well, like I said I took good care of it.

I really don't use this system much more than like 4 or 5 times a year now so I would not miss it. Besides once I set up my LCD projector in my basement for a TV I will need some kind of audio system for that and then I will have an extra one anyway.

PM me if you want to come down and get it. If pictures are really important I can do that.

Alright. Well, I'll definitely keep all of that in mind. I probably wouldn't be able to buy all of that for a while, on account of school and stuff like that, but I get out soon and might be able to take a trip down to get it all.

I'll send you a PM if I decide I'm interested

Np, I forget it does have a CD player also. Funny, at the time it was a new componet, there was a five disk option later on. Now that I think about, I don't think it's a Fisher CD but whatever.

I ended up getting a turntable from a kid I know at school. It's one of the newer ones; it's got auto-return and everything like that. Got it for $15 and he gave me a Hendrix record with it and everything.

Sadly, the needle on it was in pretty rough shape and broke off. It was playing the records (it wasn't just the record, I tried some that worked), but the quality was terrible and there was a ton of hissing and cracking and there was no bass or anything.

I was trying to find a replacement needle online but there's evidently no trace of this record player ever being manufactured. The only brand identification on it is BelAir. It says 'Auto Return Turntable System' on the front too. I did a bunch of google searching but I couldn't find any information about it. I'm going to take it up to Flat Black & Circular (local record place) tomorrow or Saturday and see if they have any suggestions on getting a new needle.

Would I be able to order a needle built for a different turntable and then just use it in mine?
