Usually they give you a pill or a liquid to make you take so you go to sleep. After you are asleep they cut you open remove the appendix and then sow you back up. The surgery takes like 1 or 2 hours.

I had my appendix removed when I was about 6 years old. It wasn't so bad, from what I can remember. Plus, I got a kickass scar. haha

i had mine removed a few years ago. they gave me a morphine drip because it was about to pop....thats the last thing i remember. I woke up with no appendix and some stitches. they didnt give me any pain medication...this was before i had ever dabbled with opiates so i didnt even think of asking. you may get some if you ask???who knows.

I had mine out in fourth grade it wasnt bad at all. Its usually an hour or two and they usually do a lapriscopic procedure so as not to leave a huge scar. Best of luck!!!
